*****Stolen SLK32AMG*****

Aw Hun, I feel for you. My car is just a toy, not perfect, not fitted with loads of stuff, but I'm attached to it in a big way (really tried not to be but there you go) so I understand how you feel.

It's back at least and I hope the damage is under your insurance.

Take care.

Thanks Lisa, I understand your mindset and attachment!;)

However this episode in my case, kinda takes the pleasure out of all to be honest. Everything I have invested in the car, whats the point? I'm struggling with what to do with it once it is released from Police custody.
Rebuild it, restore it, or scrap it.

Why do this when mindless thugs steal it for cheap thrills for me to patch it up and start all over again. :wallbash: To their minds they wouldn't and don't give a toss.

I wonder would I be better off spending my hard earned cash on a different money pit, a Sunseeker power boat or similar:dk:

I wish you well with yours enjoy it ;)

Get it collected, send it for a valet, and workout a rebuild plan.

Half the problem is knowing someone else has been in it.

Just mindless to steal it, damage it and then leave the car abandoned.
You feel like going to work on these b.....ds with a baseball bat!

One may argue misuse of a perfectly serviceable useful Baseball Bat :D
But one would also argue a hash but rewarding solution :thumb: I 'll get in the queue!!

Yeah I see your point Nick but I'm struggling with it to be honest.

I'll see exactly what I get back and take it from there. Maybe buy another low mileage car and transfer the salvageable parts like the Brabus Split rim wheels, the custom steering wheel I had made, and door handles, S/S roll over bars etc. That's 8k worth of parts to kick of with...But then maybe better to leave the car totally original.

I know of at least two examples around 30,000 miles each, however they are quite big bucks, around £20K:dk:,

It's soul destroying really. - Maybe transferring the parts to another car would be easier emotionally; you're not redoing all the work you've already done, it's a new project?

Feel your pain Matt, I had my first Skyline Gtr stolen after 1 day of ownership in 1999. Stopped an recovered within an hour with tracker! 2 brothers arrested, cops told me they would only get their legs slapped and told me to take them up an alley and give out my own punishment. Insurance paid out £13k Bill to fix it but I never felt the same knowing the scum had ragged it all over.... Sold it in the end..!
P.s the 2 Brothers got what they deserved !
Good luck with which way you decide to go.

May just need a bit of a tidy up, insurance will pay to fix it surely?

Yeah you'd like to think so, however to their mind it is already written off!!

Until you see it, it's hard to know, but at least you got it back, in theory it's cosmetics, new headlights, bit of bodywork, wheel refurb, a good bodyshop can get it back to where it was.

Police have found my Car!! Needless to say damaged, Alloys, (just had them refurbished, Broken head lamps, Stolen Removed My Alpine media head unit (About £3000 worth). That's as much as I know thus far...Wont know more till police have finished with it.

Mitsubishi still not turned up but police think its still in the Area
Bloody Mindless thugs!! For what purpose??? :dk::mad:

Good that it has turned up , but gutted for you re the damage .

I'd be inclined to keep an eye on Gumtree/eBay for that head unit - some of these idiots just might be daft enough to list it !

get on with it

gutted to hear bout ur car m8. i had mine stolen yr 2000. it turned up 2 weeks later when i was at a dealers looking to buy another one. got phonecall from cops saying it turned up. 2 junkies found driving it and using it to score and use in. yep mine was quite damaged but driveable and still legal on the road. even when i drove it back from cop shop. it was a horrible feeling. wasnt mine anymore. i got rid of it within a week and didnt look back. these things happen and it aint nice. there aint no answers of why. u gotta be thankful that your safe and never got hurt. it gets u down for a bit but shake that feeling off as soon as u can and get on with it. few yrs from now u will look back and say yeah that sucked but hey so many better good things happened aswell. talking from experience.

If you decide to buy another one and swap the bits over, don't forget that could have been ragged in it's ownership (it is an AMG) so try to get that out of the equation.

Once you get the car back, first impression will tell you if you want to keep it or get rid, I hope it works out for you whatever you decide :thumb:

Look at the positives, potential new (to you) car, new project...oh here's one ;)

Glad they found it Matt:thumb: once inspected hope the damage is not too bad...

Unfortunately house break-in and key / car theft issue is getting more and more aggressive, this happened in a very good area of Liverpool last night...

Liking the SL :thumb: Shod with the same wheels as I have fitted to my SLK, mega expensive Spoilt Rim Alloys. Mine are 18inch. However going to have to have them refurbished, due to the thieves curbing the car. I had just had them done about 6 weeks ago, by the Wheel Specialist in Ferndown. Simon is a top man, very helpful.

Should have said 18 Inch Brabus Split Rims, Not 'Spoilt Rim Alloys'
!! DOH!!
Though they are now

Yeah you could have point....:dk:

Car up date I spoke with the policeman who found my car.

So far as he could recall
All the wheels need refurbishing.
Needs two new rear light clusters.
Needs Paintwork on the off side passenger door, And rear quarter.
The boot doesn't shut. (He says possibly due to being rear ended).
Alpine head unit being taken out. However he seems to think the Other modules are still intactnd haven't ben removed. Like Sat Nav , Sound module, & hands free.MP3 Wiring and connections, though my IPhone 4 & 5s have been taken, along with my Samsung S6 phone.
Other damage to rear Bumper Assembly...

I think the body work issues are the things that hack me off as matching the paint is going to be nigh on impossible to do locally. As I see it, it will need new wings and panels + a re-spray to make it proper. I have been told as much as £20 K:doh::crazy: to completely strip and repaint and fit new panels where needed.

The car will be released in the next 24 hours to an approved Garage for assessment. I'm guessing here MB Poole :dk:

Thoughts anyone?

I think Matt looking at your list it will be declared an insurance loss by the assessor...not financially viable to repair.

Any good bodyshop in Dorset will be able to match the paint, it won't cost £20k to repair it.

The cost of having it repaired at a Mercedes approved bodyshop will write it off.

If you don't want it back let it go to MB Poole, if you do, collect it yourself and find a trusted local company to repair it.
