*****Stolen SLK32AMG*****

As above does not look that bad...but obviously dependent on engineers reports and quote...do note you can get your own quote once damage report has been completed...a good qualified paint shop should be able to get a good match on silver.

Doesn't seem to have had a major shunt , I would be surprised if the chassis was damaged. The bootlid doesn't seem to have taken an impact so the roof should be OK. This is mine after a Renault boxvan failed to stop, no chassis damage I'm "reliably" informed.

The chassis is not damaged, car's just scratched, you have to hit something hard to damage the chassis.

They did manage to buckle a wheel , so may have slid into a kerb , causing unknown damage .

Hopefully the wheel and/or wishbone gave way before the chassis does.

Obviously the more fancy the suspension system, the less sacrificial the parts.

On the limited information available that looks like cosmetic damage which makes the car eminently repairable-- at a cost obviously. Its possible that a complete insurance "new for old" repair rather than refurbish might push it into write off territory facing you with a buy back V take the money decision. Having read your posts on the whole sorry affair and sensing you are fastidious sort of person wrt your cars the big question you have to truthfully ask ask yourself is will you ever have confidence in the car again even when repaired? Difficult one I know- perhaps the detailed insurance assessor's report may help make up your mind ?

Would be useful to get a copy of the insurance assessor's damage report if they decide to write it off ?

I've asked for one to be sent to me, this I should get on Friday of this week. Hopefully alleviate my worst fears, buckled Chassis. For sure its been rear ended as the Bumper has been snapped towards off side of the car, and both rear lights are smashed. And the boot doesn't shut properly as before. Therefore this is indicates a to me alignment issue of some sort. :(

Scumbags should be locked away for a long time.

Hope the report comes out in your favour and the car is repairable.

Does not look too bad, new light and a bit of paint, job done, could have been a lot worse.

Wirth all due respect, I hope you are right Nick!

However the way the assessor was talking A fair amount of work is required to straighten the car out. New Door (as I don't want a bunch of filler in the car.) New Bumper Assembly,
Drill off and refit Parking sensors Parktronic kit. Pull out and profile rear offside wing. Replace the rear AMG body kit that is snapped in two, also the nearside AMG Side skirt. They were even talking about replacing the wheels!! I replied good luck, as Brabus don't supply 18 inch Split rim Alloy wheels any more, only 19Inch. That would be a very hard ride no doubt.
Replace wing mirror Scuffed and dented Door sills, oh and windscreen...Parts alone are not making this a cheap process not to mention the Labour on top of that...:dk:

Wow how lucky were you  Did they rebuild it??

And there in lies the issue...is it a viable process, and the insurance assessors report will as you say, help me make an informed decision.

Matt, if you can get it to THIS bodyshop, which is about 500 yds from MB-Poole, they did a fantastic job on my E55 when I had a bump just after I bought it.
I can email some before and after photos if you like. I wouldn't hesitate to go back should I need any further bodywork or respraying.

Yes you could do, I If it is Poole accident repairs I've already spoken with them FWIW. They were talking fairly big bucks. I will email you my contact details... :thumb:
Thanks Matt

Don't know till its been looked at from underneath the car....Wheel definitely Buckled, one can see that without spinning the wheel.

They'll write it off on the rear bumper and door alone if they insist on replacing them instead of repairing them.

Then again , yours was demonstrably a cherished and well cared for car - I am reminded of Del320's long running thread after the bin lorry ran into his W124 320CE .

http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/driving-incidents-roadrage/175958-not-good-day.html

His car was also a cherished and well above average condition example , there was much debate over the outcome of the insurance claim , but in the end the car was repaired and lives on :thumb:

I think Derek had similar misgivings regarding how he would feel about the car after such a shunt , but I understand he still owns and enjoys it .

With any luck , he'll be along as a kindred spirit who can offer some words of comfort for you .
