*****Stolen SLK32AMG*****

Hi,
A write off might be for the best - you have no idea how hard it was ragged around by the lowlifes that stole it.
Cheers
Steve

Yeah I see your point Nick but I'm struggling with it to be honest.

I'll see exactly what I get back and take it from there. Maybe buy another low mileage car and transfer the salvageable parts like the Brabus Split rim wheels, the custom steering wheel I had made, and door handles, S/S roll over bars etc. That's 8k worth of parts to kick of with...But then maybe better to leave the car totally original.

I know of at least two examples around 30,000 miles each, however they are quite big bucks, around £20K:dk:,

Remember if contemplatinga swap of all the good bits to another more mundane SLK model it becomes an "ordinary SLK with a 32 AMG engine and nice wheels" . Repair it and it remains an 32AMG SLK- originality is all in this game.

Any good bodyshop in Dorset will be able to match the paint, it won't cost £20k to repair it.

The cost of having it repaired at a Mercedes approved bodyshop will write it off.

If you don't want it back let it go to MB Poole, if you do, collect it yourself and find a trusted local company to repair it.

A depressing thought eg finding a proper trusted company :(

I think Matt looking at your list it will be declared an insurance loss by the assessor...not financially viable to repair.

Not financially viable to who? It is my car and it is insured. They write it off one asks the question what was the point of even having insurance? if that is the best they can do:rolleyes::rolleyes:

I insure the car against this type of issue not for them to say in effect "No sod off, in your dreams are we going to repair this!!" GRRRRRR:mad::mad:

Even more hacked off if this is the ultimate outcome here :(:( God I so wish the boys who did this get caught and brought to book....

Surely there are some half decent bodyshops in the Poole/Bournemouth area?

If Mercedes get their hands on it they'll quote into orbit and it will be at copart before you know it.

If you collect it yourself you are in control.

Rear end damage and boot won't shut ??????? Roof mechanism might be a bit of a problem to get right !!

:dk:Collecting the car myself, could be an issue, I have no keys whatsoever, and iI don't know if its even driveable...By life just sucks at present over this. Everywhich way I look at this I am snookered.:( :(

Would be useful to get a copy of the insurance assessor's damage report if they decide to write it off ?

Send a lorry for it, or go over to the police pound and have a look at it first.

It is your car afterall.

Matt, if you can get it to THIS bodyshop, which is about 500 yds from MB-Poole, they did a fantastic job on my E55 when I had a bump just after I bought it.
I can email some before and after photos if you like. I wouldn't hesitate to go back should I need any further bodywork or respraying.

Matt, after total loss is declared (which at the moment is an assumption) the best outcome maybe would be for you to buy the car back from the insurance company then have it repaired by a body shop of your choice, dependent on IF you intend on keeping the car...obviously the buy back figure will need to be negotiated...once you have assessor damage report you can get quotes, your chosen body shop would arrange pickup, keys can be sorted via MB as long as you have the V5.

Some pictures of the damage, which I think speak for themselves
More to follow

Every whel is damaged in this way, some worse thanb others, One wheel rim is buckled too.

Also the side skirt on the nearside is damaged.
Talking to the assessor today, he was suggesting new door, new rear Valentes, and Bumper Assembly, new nearside wing mirror, New Windscreen, new First aid kit,
Emergency Triangle, New Head unit, possibly new seat cover, and cill plates ibn fact anything else they spot once they get the car started, and up in the air to examine the underside. Obviously to achieve this a this will need Keys that I no longer have. They will then put it on diagnostic test. They will get a quote out to the insurance company and me by Friday.

Gutted for you. Unfortunately not surprised the scumbags stacked it, AMG SLKs aren't the easiest things to drive with a short wheelbase, RWD, and an abundance of shove. I guess they didn't make a corner - let's hope they hurt themselves in the process.

Cheers,

Gaz

Does not look too bad, new light and a bit of paint, job done, could have been a lot worse.

The part that worries me is if they have damaged the Chassis and they wont know that til they get the car up in the air. Paintwork wise is getting it not looking Like a patchwork quit. It has to be said, :( I am a fussy bugger!!! And I will spot this a mile away.
