heres a better pic - infinity basslink-t - in the back of my w208 230k
its really shallow so only comes off the back of the rear seats by about 7-8 inches . I was quite suprized by the amount of bass it produces though . Its a 10" powered sub with 2 10" bass reflectors either side of it. I had to trim it slightly to get it to fit but it was quite easy to do as it had a plastic lip either side for fixing . I cut then off without disturbing the inner chamber and with a little cohersion in went in nicely.

found the sub on ebay for £70 , couldnt get me hat on ! Its a bit of overkill for the level of bass that i require from it but as its so slim i dont really mind as its got all the usual gain/frequency response variable on the built in amp so i can tune it to my listening preference . good fit too

Specifications:
General

Power Output : 250 Watts RMS
Frequency Response : 20Hz - 170Hz
Variable Bass EQ : +3dB to -6dB at 45Hz
Variable Electronic Crossover : 70Hz - 170Hz
Phase control : 0 or 180 degrees
Preamp Level Inputs : 250mV - 4V
Dimensions (H x W x D) : 14-3/8 x 40-3/8 x 6-7/16

Looks like a nice fit in the space. Shouldn't it be facing the other way? If it was the other way then the speakers/bass reflectors would be more protected from damage.
It does look nice and neat. Did you know it was going to be such a tight fit when you bought it?

I nearly got a basslink T but went a bit more traditional...

looks like a nice an tidy fit. still got the space and now some loud music

looks good, nice and clean fit. when do i start putting my install in ;)

I think i was just shere luck that it fitted so well , i did have to trim off some of the plastic lip on either side but the plastic is that hard it cut like wood with my jigsaw and lrft a nice clean surface aswell . as for facing it the other way , wouldnt it cancell itself out when it reflected off the back seats ? not sure about that but as its got pretty sturdy grill i'm sure it wouldnt mind the odd nock (not much goes in my boot )
needless to say - very pleased with the looks and the performance.
usefull bit of info - Infinity are part of the Harmon group of Harmon Kardon fame

Very nice.
All you need to add to it are a couple model type laydees
And some Barry White CDs lol.

I keep meaning to get around to fitting my sub
Alpine 12" type S with 480w mono block amp.
Although it will never look anywhere near as tidy as that lol.

Still tring to think of a way to fit my vibe 6x9 speakers though.
I cannot bear to get rid of them.

i have seen some 'stealth subs' for other cars , that fit into the recess eitherside of the tailgate , i havent seen one for any mercedes though , theres a nice lttle gap in the market. The recess to right in the clk would be a perfct place for a moulded sub box as its so deep - i imagine they're not that hard to make as you would only need to fininsh the facing side , mdf and fibre glass sounds right for the job .

sounds like what i had in mine for awhile x2 12's either side of the boot area.

a friend of mine made up the sub enclosures (fibre glass with mdf fronts) and i installed all the wiring.

The system has been all changed now tho - to something completely different,
even tho this setup worked very well.

"looks tidy , did you make them yourself ?"

Just out of intrest guys.
How did you get the live feed from the battery to the boot???

I have stood looking at it for almost an hour and cannot see anyway of getting a cable through the bulkhead into the cabin
Short of drilling through and using a grommit which I would rather avoid.

Am dying to get my sub up an running lol.

Battery in the CLK is in the boot.

You can get a live feed from the battery on a w124 to the boot but it's no fun.

There is a spare grommet in the firewall behind the battery on a w124 , then its a question of getting it tucked up under the dash , the carpets , sill covers , or whatever to the rear seat . Then take the rear seat out ( left ) and you can wiggle it through.

I managed it on my old w124 coupe , but it was a pain.

Each car has places where wire harnesses go thru bulkhead so you can use the same route for power cable. Ground can be connected to spot in a back.
