Hi guys,

weistec stage 3 or PTG 4L ??

Made up my mind to supercharge the car and I don’t want to invest on a 2.3L and then end up spending again on upgrades….
Will be running on stock internals and trans till I save up for upgrades in the future…
weistec promises 625whp on 95ron fuel
Needs trunk ice box….

PTG says 675-700 whp on 95 Ron and doesn’t recommended the trunk ice box…

Im on a mission to make my car the fastest in the country, currently there’s 1 C63 running weistec stage 2 pushing 700bhp, not sure if the numbers are true…. I will do the trans, pistons& rods, port heads in the future…So I want to invest once and net Max HP from the kit….My car is a P31 2013 (28k kms) with headers, full exhaust,LSD,weistec trans pan, catch can and the bigger oil cooler…

Price wise they r almost the same for now but weistec will give discounts in the upcoming Black Friday sales and PTG says they are not gonna give any discounts on the supercharger KIT….so is it worth paying the extra for PTG or should I wait for the sale and order weistec ?

Those who have these kits installed please join in and share their experience and if they had any issues with it…

thank you much.

not familiar with the PTG kit but have stage 2 Weistec on mine, the supercharger itself I've had no issues but the pulleys they come with (or at least did when I bought) are prone to failure, they are sold as an upgrade (also available separately) but the bearings they use are not as good as OEM, they just upgraded the outer pulley material

Yes I did read about this on the other forum as well, people faced premature pulley wear and they had to change it on regular basis…

If you are seriously interested I have a 500 mile old Weistec Stage 3 supercharger, with upgraded intercooler, bespoke ICE tank (And Weistec Ice tank) and many other parts. I also have a Stage 2 supercharger kit as well.

Comes with all parts as well as upgraded pulley for when you do upgrade the engine.

Despite them bundling the billet pulleys with the supercharger when you buy one, if you look to buy them separately, Weistecs own website says they are not suitable for supercharged applications. That should tell anyone all they need to know. Its a joke tbh.

Not a big Facebook user, but having had this issue myself I ended up finding this post on the C63 AMG UK owners group, where seemingly the majority of people who have gone Weistec have had this failure

Again, tells you all you need to know. Weistec know about the issue, but they wont do anything about it to support customers who have been left stranded due to pulley/belt failure (other than add the caveat to their product page - which is missing if you check the product pages for the individual pulleys rather than a kit) and continue to sell them. And of course, when a pulley fails and ruins your belt, you are left waiting for a new supercharger specific belt to be shipped from the US, which is not quick

I asked the above question as I wondered if it was a Weistec crank pulley rather than the idlers, as I have seen that upgrade but mine doesnt have it - which I'm quite glad about both based on the above but also I dont think it has the marking to set the engine to 40 degrees from TDC to allow safe work on the engine

If the pulley question was directed at me the upgraded pulley I refer too is just to allow more boost through the charger. Never used or fitted yet.

With regards to the supercharger belt, just use a C32 AMG one. Fits perfect and UK stock. I think its a single Belt for C32/SLK32 OEM #: "112 997 00 92"

Hi John yes that was for you, so just the 57mm snout pulley to go from stage 1 to 2. Makes sense, thank you. And thanks for the tip on the C32 belt I'll look into that, top man

Ah from Stage 1 to Stage 2 would need to check. I meant on the Stage 3 I also have a smaller pulley to push that one harder. From memory I think it's just the snout pulley though and a retune.

No problem!
