Taxi Drivers

You can't enhance something that isn't there though. Here's an example, this is from a RAW format 8MP DSLR image - ISO 100, 1/100 sec. at F9

You can see the individual pixels ... there simply isn't any more detail than that.

Without having one of their images to play with I'm not categorically stating that its impossible. But as an experienced photographer I find it very hard to see how it could be done.

Bill

I'm not into photography so I don't really know how they do it but I will ask the question and try and find out what software & equipment they use. I suspect they have it done independently as I cant see equipment being used for this purpose very frequently I have actually seen the cavalier pic I mention in printed format and you can definitely see the reg etched in the glass.

I'm afraid your information is wrong here as well

what happened

So, it wasn't camera cleverness that caught him either, just good old fashioned policing

Just passing on the info I had but how do you know it is wrong? the above is only one media report of the event who knows what is correct except those involved?

The whole point of posting the pics was to give you a chuckle, bet I'll do that again

if you try searching the name Philip Coffey (the guys name) you'll find quite a lot of versions of that story - all saying pretty much the same thing :)

just for good measure, here's a link to the Mail On Line

However, I can't find any that say he was followed by the camera operator until they got to see his number.

Do you know for sure it's a genuine and un-doctored speed camera pic though? I could easily produce a picture showing a fuzzy but readable VIN, but it would be a fake!

Not being funny, but it would surely be in the Police's interest to spread the belief that these cameras are capable of resolving tiny details ... even if they aren't.

Anyway, let us know what answers you get!

No I don't good point

I would agree maybe it is just bullish PR

Anyway, let us know what answers you get!

Will ask the questions on the visit and report back.

It's a shame they don't devote so much manpower and investigating to most other reported crime....

To be honest, if you think about it - they spotted an unusual bike, made a couple of quick phone calls and simply narrowed it down within a couple of minutes. 1 in 3 chance of making the right call to find the offender. Seemples........

Read about the biker story at the time - as the article says, bet he wishes he had a blue R6. They would never have caught him

Is this dead lol

Was trawling through website for posts about the new w212 e class as a taxi.

I'm a private hire taxi driver and encourage flow on the roads so always let people out etc.
Gatso speed cameras don't bother me one bit I can head in a 30 mile radius from where I live and know each and everyone.
Speed bumps are what get me driving over 5 bumps about 15 times a day kills my car.

This is a side note but I do get frustrated when drivers don't move over and let you past lol time is money to me and I admit I flirt with the limits of what's acceptable in the eyes of the law ie speed. 30mph plus 10% plus 2-3 mph for speedo accuracy.

Anyways enjoyed the geek level indepth look into cameras too.

I'm 26 going on 40 me thinks.

When merely chatting or under caution, an officer or any person 'act'ing on behalf of the Gov. will ALWAYS slip the line in somewhere in the conversation, " Do you understand".

By answering YES, this is in fact your acceptance to 'play along' and agree to their terms and instruction subjecting yourself to their authority. Same with magistrates.

Often the true meaning is lost or by many those that have not realised. But this dates back a long time and part of freemen law, but crucially still used today. Its in some way part of contract law.

Just thought I'd mention it

Or check my 'contract' below ;)
