...NEVER EVER consider buying a car from MotorPoint. They are useless and couldn't care less about the customer. They contradict themselves, the person you wish to speak to is never available and no-one but no-one will return a call.

They are symptomatic of all that is wrong with woeful customer service and "laissez-faire" attitude of many businesses in this country.

Can you be more specific.

I know several people who have purchased from their Derby branch and none have had complaints.

I thought I once read that sales staff earn a fixed price commission per car sale. Spending too long talking to perspective buyers might not be the best way to earn a living. The 'supermarkets' all tend to have a very fast turn over of cars, so they are surely doing something right?

car supermarkets

terrible places wouldn't touch them with a barge pole, why would someone wish to know my bloody personal details before I evan looked at a car,In my opinion not a car salesman amongst them just greedy salespeople who haven't a clue about cars in general let alone specific models, but when it comes to finance and loan rates that's where these buggers excel....

Shame ...

I bought my MR2 off them in 2002.

First off I saved £3500 :bannana:
I got a UK spec car that Roman Toyota in bath serviced and carried out waranty work for the 70,000 mile I owned it no import issues.
It was insured as a UK car :bannana:

I used the Derby branch.
I cant say the staff went out their way to be nice,
they told me the car did not have an alarm, when it did...
They tried to charge me £50 to wash the car when they hadn't even done it (I had the sales manager do it for me himself :D)

All in all I would use them again but only if the price was right and I would not expect thrills....

so whats new with courtesy of showing interest and returning calls. This I find with most dealers from audi,BMW,mercedes, ford, and also I found disinterest from Motorpoint.
Yesterday I was visiting my local MB dealer to get the SLK fixed with another Fault, anyway the guy walking in front of me had a fleece, with embroidered on the back "vehicle industry training".I said to him,"you obviously have the hardest job in the world or they just dont listen"

My boss wanted to buy a Ford Fusion as a pool car from them. Was told that if the order was confirmed and deposit paid by Tuesday morning, we could pick the car up from Burnley today, it having been transported from the Derby facility. He duly paid the deposit and confirmed the order on Tuesday morning. All dealings were done with staff at Derby.

Cutting a long story short, after 11 'phone calls and only one call back late last night (after her threatened to cancel the sale), no-one is able, bothered or willing to say when the car will be transported from Derby to Burnley or when it can be collected, despite assurances to the contrary when the deal was originally struck.

Anyway, my boss lost patience and is looking elsewhere for a vehicle.

To be honest I wouldn't ask them to do anything even remotely out of the ordinary like this. The idea is that you turn up, hand over money and drive away, never seeing or speaking to each other again. They don't employ 'salesmen', just people who write up orders - pretty similar to most dealers, then.
I found MB Direct (I used Birmingham) pretty similar - I got a great deal, but it wasn't a nice experience and a simple documentation query I had afterwards has been completely ignored by both Birmingham and MB Direct head office.
Most dealers treat you like crap - you might as well pay less in the first place than pay list and still get poor treatment.
