Terraclean - Is it any good

Gav...just use 2T semi synth 200ml to 60 litres ...it gets rid of smoke, noise, rattles and also improves mpg and engine smoothness!

Don`t ask me how ?......i just use it all the time and it works for me...but give it a fair chance.

Mine doesn't smoke excessively, i haven't tried the 2t so perhaps i shall give it ago :thumb:

What's 2t semi synth? Did a google but it only came up with 2 stroke oil lol I don't think you mean that :-)

I think they did ;)

It's an 'oil burner' - the clue is in the name :D

Gav...you know me from Volvo`s and you also know that i take nothing lightely i delve right into the information even if it takes a few months before i sample whatever it is!

I have used 2T ( two stroke oil must be semi synth NOT fully synth ) for about 6months now and if i miss a dose i know the difference ...so to me that says it all.

It is so cheap and so little for 200ml to 60 litres but it does make a huge difference to the running of the diesel engine.

They say modern fuels have less sulphur in them which lubricates especially the fuel pump etc. and the 2T replaces that as well as a good true clean burn which results in more mpg and performance.

Try one dose and i bet you keep to it afterwards!

+1 for a shot of 2T every fill up. I have been doing this for a few years and I can feel and hear the difference.

In the days of carbs, the done thing was to trickle feed distilled water into the engine. The heat and compression would turn the water into superheated steam, which would clean the exhaust valves and manifold on the way out.

What brand are we looking at might try it in the works pickup.;)

I had a Terraclean service done to my '92 300E a couple of months ago and was pretty disappointed with the results... No real improvement. What I have found is a firm called Injectotune which reckons your injectors for £12 each. So this works out cheaper than Terraclean and will improve running and performance. I'm going to have them do the injectors on all of my cars...

I do think Terraclean works but the for best results it's probably more suited to high mileage vehicles and one's that are mainly driven just in urban areas. I'd imagine it could be very effective on modern diesels with high pressure injectors. I wouldn't expect it to resolve mechanical faults such as worn or faulty injectors and I'd expect little or no improvements on high performance vehicles that are driven as somewhat intended.

P.s. Personally, I wouldn't bother getting it done, prefer to have the injectors tested and reconditioned along with using the likes of Dipetane fuel additive on a regular basis.

There are several ways of dealing with carbon deposits, from Terraclean to regular use of Premium fuels or fuel additives, as well as other product e.g. this:

http://ecotekdigital.co.uk/PowerBoost.htm

But as rightly pointed out, the products effectiveness in dislodging carbon deposits is only one part of the issue - because it will only help if the original problem was caused solely by carbon deposits...

Often there are various other issues affecting performance of older engines, and people opt for decoking simply because it is the easiest to do and not because they know it will actually resolve the underlying issue.

I am really pleased to see a Linky about an additive from someone else in a post apart from myself...Lol

I am always the one that gets jumped on because of my own experiences i am trying to pass on...i wonder why?

can you use 2T along with millars diesel treatment? i've used millars for years, dont know if it does anything but i have driven diesels for over 35 years and never once had an injector fail. As for terra clean, well i think its all Foo, no real sceintific proof from what i can see.

most diesels i have owned i have either blanked off the EGR or disconnected. my last car an MGZT when i checked had so much crap in the ERG and inlet manifold it was a wonder it ran at all. after cleaning both with a steam power washer then blanking the ERG off the car was so much better and returned better MPG.

can my 2003 320 CDi be blanked without getting a star job or de programmed off with no ill effect?

My MOT is due in a couple of weeks and at the moment i use Shell Nitro Diesel and have 2T and i have this also in my tank ....Archoil AR6400-D Pro PEA Concentrate Diesel Cleaner 430ml......what a waste of money i hear people say but at least my motor is rewarding me with what i need from it so i don`t mind....preventative maintenance is best.

As i have been around town quite a bit response on the throttle has not been what it used to be so i gave it a run at 3500revs in 5th gear (Tiptronic) with WOT bursts to the red line and now it goes like it used to when on a long run.

I do think that the adaptive ECU and laying down of crap in the engine does it no good at all for responsiveness. Well it has proved it now as it goes like a rocket with no black smoke at all out the exhaust.

I will post up the emissions difference from the MOT as i have been using 2T for about 9 months now so i can compere to last years.

EGR`s.... i am a believer that what was on the engine is needed and i will not have a delete or anything like that, same as the swirl flap modification, the flaps are meant to give more torque low down so i will just pay up when needed. I had the updated orange seal fitted some months back to the turbo when the ATF was done also and yesterday checked underneath the air hose and the top of the swirl motor is still bone dry and clean so the uprated seal does work.

After a couple of years having the engine(S) cleaned mpg has improved by about 5%

I have been given ( by an Uncle) a 2006 W11 E350 Sport petrol, pick it up this Tuesday 30 7 19
The car has been stored in a garage in London since new ( owner lives abroad) and used very occasionally.
The car has done 11,535 miles and been regularly serviced, mot etc.

I am rather concerned however about the rubbers and seals. Does anybody have any advice on what other things I should be aware of. Also I can’t find any info on what the E350 Sport has that other variants don’t.
Any advice appreciated

I had this done to an old Jag X-Type diesel. I have to say I was pretty sceptical but Ed China had me sold.
The difference was nothing short of amazing, easier starting, smoother and cleaner running. It also appeared to be quicker although that might have been just an impression.
The only drawback was that I started to get an injector fault showing up which was probably masked by the generally rough running before, I never did fix it and eventually got rid. It was crap anyway.
