Car
Discovery 4 and C63
As per previous posts the c63 has gone. wbac gave £31300 for 2012 coupe with 18000. Could have got a bit more privately but trade in and other valuations were max £28k. I have gone full circle with this car, loved it, wanted to eurocharge it..... then didnt feel I used enough to justify the costs and thought that each time I went for a blast that I got to silly speeds that took away the fun. New car is a Mini challenge 210 which will be about 1/3 of the costs per month of the c63 and is about 1/2 to 3/4 of the C. At a time where house improvements are due, young children who are spoiled and like Dubai at half term something has to give and Mrs M said it wasnt the Discovery!
I would still recommend the car to anyone, the fuel economy didnt bother me and I know that the early morning start of V8 will be missed... So long....

I'm in the same boat as you. But I'm not quite there yet. I'm at the stage where I'm thinking, do I carry on modding then the next minute I think what's the point as I hardly use it.

I haven't told the Mrs my thoughts yet tho lol.

Sure you'll enjoy the new purchase especially when your visiting the petrol station.

I had a JCW a few months back. The fuel economy isn't much better than the 63

Fuel costs are not too important however, I will be surprised if the mini can't better my 14-15mpg average. 15mpg is fine though if it results in a noise like an amg!

I get 20 ish day to day in the AMG the same journeys in my JCW was 27.

So basically £60 in the AMG lasts me 4 days/maybe 5 if I'm careful.

The Mini I got an extra day out of. Interestingly it is a poor car for a 1.6 on economy.

It was fun though!

Hopefully the new 2.0 in the challenge will be better. During the spirited test drive it averaged 34mpg. My change is driven by cost - £320 per month lower on repayments, £80-£100 less on fuel, zero service cost for 5 years, £130 road tax as opposed to £500, tyres.... I think I will be of the order of £550-£600 per month better off. That was enough to sway me, mrs m and the now, but previously not so kind lady from Nationwide! The debate about residual value is a fair one and my mini at 4 years old will obviously take a hit on value, as will a 7-8 year old c63, will it be worth £15-£20k more....?

So long bud .
Sounds like you made a sensible decision with your head not your heart .
You will have to join a suitable forum now and maybe arrange a group meet with other owners for a coffee down at Selfridges !!

I sometimes miss the rumble of my E63. These AMG's are addictive.

anything with a 6.3l engine is a daft car if paying payments on it and using as everyday use.its becoming a dinosaur thats expensive to run
But as a fun car awesome i love it everytime i start it and rumble around and ive been daft enough to supercharge mine as well

I think you got reasonable value from WBAC. When I check my ex-C63 out of curiosity, I get £33300 valuation and that's for 2014 plate. I'm waiting for the car to re-appear on the market as my friend is interested in buying it. It means I will get to drive it again but not pay for it ;-)

I interupted my partner, Tarquin, whilst he was watching a Great British Bake off repeat to show him this post. Oh how we laughed.... Ya Bast@rds!!:):):)

I have to say, one of my cabin crew today did say that it is normally a stewards car and not for the boys on the other side of the locked door! Oh well, the denial continues.......:bannana:

£31600 was the screen price however, a couple if hundred was knocked off for the most minor of stone chips on the front bumper and an alloy wheel that had a slight kerb mark. I was happy with the valuation as I think the best I coukd have got with a private sale would be around £32k.

As an aside, if anyone gets asks on the forum about YC12, my old C63 then the only thing of note is that MB Birmingham hadn't updated the online service history from last year and subsequently couldn't put the correct date in so last years service has been recorded as August and not as May when it should be. Service indicator on dash is reading correctly as about 153 days from now...

Ha ha !! Lovin ' your sense of humour !! I wasn't actually suggesting / speculating you were gay !! And if you are , thats absolutely fine . I'm a modern man !
My sarcastic dig was to emphasise that your 'fellow' owners maybe bored housewives , parked up at Selfridges whilst they get their nails done , followed by a bowl of Sushi !!
