The BIG summer GTG?

In my opinion, Clumber 2005 should be the BIG GTG. Perfect location for a summers day, as much space as possible and facilites suitable enough.

I agree :D

Far enough North to attract most members and poosibly those from Scotland too and a possible day trip for the southerners, although many will be stopping over for the evening anyway.

Can't wait for the evening :bannana:

What about the Welsh? You know, the one's that are good at Rugby :D
I'd bring some welsh cakes. ;)

Welsh Cakes and a nice cup of Tea - can't beat it, unless it's followed with beer of course.

Great for celebrating ANOTHER rugby victory! :bannana:

Speaking for myself only, it's when rather than where that concerns me, I'll happily drive my car to the end of the world (wherever that is) but it has to fit in with my shift rota or available days off.

On a general note, I think somewhere in the midlands would be fairer to everyone. A Bridgewood Manor GTG could mean an 800/900 mile round trip for any scottish members who want to attend, a Clumber GTG would mean maybe 400/500 mile round trip for both those in the deep south and the far north.

There are only 2 certainties.

One is that whoever organises it will not please everyone. The other is that I'll be there

FIne by me - I did have another thought though which I was going to chat to Matt about tomorrow night -

http://www.heritage-motor-centre.co.uk/eventsclubs/carclubs/default.htm#rooms

I went their on the very first MINI2 Club meeting. We went in November and there was a massive firework display, a stunt driving demo of the MINI on 2 wheels and an excellent museum to visit. I think there was some off roading rides also available. It was an excellent day out for anyone interested in British motor cars. If there was a GTG there I would go for sure.

There was catering , bars toilets etc, in fact everything to keep all family members interested.

The location has good access to the motorway network, and is located centrally for visitors from all parts of the country.

How did the chat go with Matt?

..... anywhere with a skip will do for me (to hide the car behind ;))

S.

remember we need somewhere with a skip for sym's car

I'm happy either way - or perhaps we could manage 2, one a suitable South East venue (possibly Maff's place?), and one at the Heritage Motor Centre... :)

Just have to hope now that they are set for a date that doesn't clash with all the other petrolhead activities I have planned for the summer (already! )!

Clumber was very good last year, but why is it that everything has to happen way up north. Last year was a 450 mile round trip. It would be nice if it wasnt the southerners doing all of the travelling all the time. Alternate years north and south would be fair i think. I cant go any further south as the wet stuff gets in the way.

That's not always been the case.

Far from it; round-trip mileages for me:

Jimmy's (Kettering) [Twice]: 266
Maff's (Taplow): 370
Castle Combe [Twice]: 352

Clumber will be a fairly reasonable 170.

Having said that, I would definitely not have a problem if it was moved to Maff's.

Pietre, it would be a fair distance just from Essex to Portsmouth. How much space have you got on your drive for a Deep South Venue ? :D

If Mercs are so nice to drive why are you worrying about how far it is ? :D

I havn't been to one of these events yet but would certainly come along if it were held in the south somewhere. Maff's place sounds ideal to me.

Maffs sounds great, but thats cos i'm a lazy git !!

Is there somewhere we can BarB at Matts ? cos summers all about charred sausages and beer for me ...... ;)

If you're all good i'll bring my Billie album with me .........

Oh Man !!

I'm there then ...... 2 BarB's  - life doesn't get much better than that !!

Maffs gets my vote ....
