C350
Having completed comand, linguatronic, mirrors and sundry small mods today is the day! Today I'm going to a breaker in essex who has a C320 with the panaramic roof which we are going to retrofit to my car! Dev in Dagenham says we can do it in 4 hours! Step 1 mark out the cutting lines on my roof. Photos to follow!

Tinsnips at the ready.

April will be the perfect time to get this going, you'd be a fool to leave it until Summer is here and everyone else is queuing up for Dev's time.

Very brave Greg. It will look good though. I was going to say it will finish the car off nicely, thought i would rephrase it.

Hmm good mod, although not as big as my mod. I grafted an SL front end onto my E class in 1 day!

Well Dev has now drawn his lines on the roof and has said it will be easier to cut if he drills holes in the corners first. Getting hot here!

After Developer's April fool gag about the COMAND DVD mod, I am suspicious of this one....:D

If you are indeed going ahead with this, as Peter said, very brave!

This thread is a total waste of everyone time.

We need pics:D:D:D:D

MB are doing panoramic roofs for all pre 2005 cars for free today by quoting the code: 010413

Why could this possibly be an April Fool? :D

Back in 1975 when I was a callow youth of 25, I attacked my almost new Renault 5TS with tin-snips and fitted a glass sunroof - just like the recently introduced Ford Fiesta Ghia!

A vinyl roof was quite acceptable then and the spare interior roof lining was used to cover the rear pillars. Any remaining bare metal was covered in the left over vinyl.

Quite some car... Any R5TS geek - were there such an individual - would spot another half dozen mods. :o

But....the Fiesta did't go on sale in the UK until Jan 77:p:p

I'll have a go at three:
- Passenger door mirror
- Wheels
- Coach stripes

Are any of those right?

10/10 for the door mirror. :thumb:
Wheels painted to look like alloys with "low profile" tyres.
Stripes, rubbing strip, spoiler, black bumpers and window frames, longer wipers, mud flaps...

There's prescience for you then...Ford pinched my idea! :D

Oh no! My wife says she doesn't like it and prefers it without the panoramic roof! But it's OK as Dev from Dagenham says he can get it back to normal by tomorrow the 2nd April..... :)

Thanks guys for playing along! I haven't got the bottle for this model, though I think it could be done!

When the option to fit is sub £2k at time of build yet a replacement under insurance is in the region of £7.5k then you walk away from it.

It only spells trouble ...
