I need some oil for my S210 320CDI (OM613).

I'm sure Costco sell both Mobil 1 0w/40 & Castrol Edge 0W/30 (I used this oil last time).

Has anyone been to costco and noticed the prices recently?

Out of interest, which oil do you prefer to use?

TIA.

Paul.

I use Mobil 1 Fully synthetic 0-40
In Costco, I can not remembe price exactly, but it is about 40% cheaper than RRP.
I think about £24 per 4 litres

You will have to buy 8 litres for about £42. Kwik Fit will charge £49.95 to do the change for you using Mobil 1 and include a filter.

check ASDA first mine sometimes is doing £5 litre mobil 1 fully synth

Been today - if only I'd been on MBClub first I could be sure.

That not withstanding Mobil1 is still £20 plus VAT for sure, and IIRC Castrol Edge is £27 plus VAT.

Thanks Bobby,

Is that £20 for 5ltr Mobil 1 and £27 for 4ltr Castrol Edge?

I had a look in Halfords today and Mobil 1 was on offer, reduced from £45 to £39.

AFAIK, Costco still sell Mobil 1 0W-40 for £19.99 + VAT, for 4 litres. It's not the 5L cans that they sell in Halfords etc.

Definitely 4 litre cans at Costco, so need to reflect the lower volume when comparing prices with oil purchased elsewhere.

Works fine for our cars though, as they both take a little less than 8 litres, and so two 5 litre cans would be less appropriate.

Yup 8 litres need for the SL so suppying oil from Costco works fine.

I was in the other day, and the price in Kwik Fit was £29.
Or did you get a dearer quote because yours takes more oil ?

They say in the above link that they use Mobil1, so by my reckoning they are doing the job for me cheaper than I could do it myself.

Good point, I don't know. I was quoted £39.95, but this went to £49.95 when I requested Mobil 1.

Wierd.
I picked up a flyer when I was getting my exhaust looked at.
It said, plain as can be, £29.

I asked the blokey and he said that was it. You get what the manufacturer specs for your car and that's the deal.

I said mine is spec'd Mobil1, so he printed a quote off and said that's what's listed for my tub.

He said that they do so many, and they buy it so cheap, that is how they can afford to do it.

I was at the MB dealer in Reading this afty buying a couple of outrageously expensive bits of wire & the bloke in front of me paid £16.91 for a litre of the stuff!!!

0-40W mobil 1 has always been a shade under £25 for a 4l can at Costco.

This weekend I also saw thay had Castrol Edge 5W-40. This was BMW LL04, MB 229.51 certified. It was a bit more dear - can't recall price

Thanks.

I prefer to do my own oil changes on all of my vehicles and so know what comes out and goes into the engines. I use a Sealey pump for this.

I have very little faith in Kwikfit.

You are not alone. So, when they did mine, I stood and watched everything the guy did. I couldn't buy the oil as cheaply as they supplied and fitted it.

I visited Costco yesterday and stocked up with 24Ltrs = £101.82 + Vat.

Enough Mobil 1 for two oil changes on the 320CDI (one this weekend) and one on the Sprinter.

Given that the rate for an oil & filter change at MB Macclesfield is £228.00 I think that the cost £49.00 including the genuine MB filter for doing the job myself is well worth it.

Because I'm a mucky pup, I also bought two 6-packs of Torx white tissue rolls. Great value @ £11.55 + Vat.

You got a bargain there. I've been buying my Mobil1 from Costco Birmingham and it's been £19.99 + VAT throughout. It looks like you paid that INCLUSIVE of VAT. I might call Birmingham to see if they have it at the same price.

I was in Costco (Reading) yesterday and all the Mobil 1 was now in 5 litre containers. Can't recall the exact price, but price per litre seemed very similar to previous.
