Interesting- I can pick up another cable for very little to test this.

Got to say, you are committed to the cause alright. Personally I could not be bothered with the aggravation and would have sold the car for something else by now - good luck though, will be interesting to see the finished mods....

Throttle pedal can (as far as I can see) remain completely unchanged.

Brake pedal arm is mild steel, pressed from two sections then welded together. I think the simplest route forward is to cut it, weld in a longer section plus gussets, but I'll leave the "how" to the fabricator.

Done as I imagine it this would be pretty hard to see - I think you'd need to be looking for it to spot it.

Nice parquet flooring similar to mine.

Be a rebel take a test and go if its negative, my door will be open to anyone who wishes to pop in for a whisky over xmas.

I've had the difficult conversation and bought a tree now, so will have the first Christmas in London that I can remember.

I'm currently waiting for the cats to discover the new tree in the corner of the room and try to climb it.

Honestly mate, this is one of the best colours that I've seen on this model and I'll be tempted to have it off you when you're done titivating.

If I don’t take a whiskey can I take the car keys? ...with consent of course! 😁

I have (potentially, they're off over Christmas) ordered a short loom extension for the throttle pedal and found a motorsport fabrication place locally (well, just a little outside London) that specialise in caging competition cars but also make pedal boxes for rally-cars who can modify the brake pedal in February next year/make up a plate to re-locate the throttle pedal.

The winter tyres have done a lot to quell Herman's heroic efforts to overcome what traction is available at all times, which is handy.

With the roof being wider than the C-Class I can hopefully now get two 29ers on the racks without having to turn the bars on one sideways, which cuts down on faff there.

How do these cars ride on the forged 20" wheels compared to the standard 19's? I've been quite impressed with the ride on the 19's, having expected it to be very trashy.

And an update on my pedal project - a friend has a 213, he told me that his pedals are significantly less offset than in my 212, and part of the reason may be obvious in this picture of the 213 brake pedal:

That's right, it's got a significant bend in it. I've ordered the pictured pedal assembly from eBay and will see whether I can (with some cutting, drilling and potentially a little welding) make the 213 pedal arm work in the 212 pedal housing. I'd feel better about using a largely unmolested OEM pedal arm I admit.

It’d be good to see a photo of your “natural resting” position in the 213 as a gauge.

I hope it’s a straightforward mod using the 213 parts, could be a brilliant option for those who’ve suffered with the offset issues.

I am late to the party and apologies if this was mentioned already (I did read most pages) - but Stop Start almost always fails if the main battery is not fully charged. I washed the car earlier, battery now 'Partially Charged' according to the app and elpresto - Stop / Start won't work. Trickle charger on - get it to 'charged' - bang .. works ..
