The GL deal is on the table!

VAT on the privacy glass? i thought the the whole car plus options was zero rated. and isn't any ongoing service and repair work also exempt from VAT?
well done on getting yourselves a great deal. what happened at the land rover outlet? 'cos i'm nosey, see.

Spot on, all of my stretched limo, including the conversion falls into what your saying including the servicing.

Thanks all. As the dealer is paying for the Privacy as part of the extras I negotiated I don't care a hoot if he pays the VAT or not! Thanks for the tips on the VAT on servicing wasn't aware of that having been with the 'all in' Motability package for the last 12 years.

I went to the Land Rover garage this morning, as the current Disco needed more warranty work. I explained to the Business Manager (who was totally diffident towards me truth be known) what I was after - Disco 3 HSE, BIG discount (to rival the 13% on offer from the military discount scheme - this is administered through Marshalls of Peterborough) and a VAT free purchase. He was not altogether bothered but went away to make sure Inchcape was happy to go VAT free, he came back said he wouldn't discount the Disco at all and that he couldn't help. Having told him about the Merc deal on offer he said "sounds good, I'd go for that"!!!

I can't be bothered to deal with Marshalls of Peterborough and, actually, the GL deal is probably unbeatable and it is a great luxurious car. So, I went home, blagged the Privacy having told a little porkie that there was a rival LR deal on offer, then paid the £1K deposit on the GL! I am now selling my 4 month old 335d to buy a Mini Cooper, I cannot justify having £100K's worth of metal on the drive!

Well done on the GL and err... just hope you've got a big drive!;)

My drive is certainly big enough for the GL and a Mini, its a double width driveway. There is no issue of it ever going into the double garage, I am sure it would fit (just) the Disco does, just coming in below the door with the suspension set to its lowest setting, and with about 18" to spare lenghtways. Anyway, its academic, the double garage is about to be converted as a bespoke disabled suite for my son. The GL will 'live' outside!!

Great news Peter! Sounds like a excellent deal. Good luck selling the 335d, I hope you don't loose too much on it.

Well done, sound like you got a very good deal there. Hope you enjoy the GL!

I'd get a service deal if at all possible - the 'Pureguard' treatment comes in a kit for £20 and can be applied by a valet company for £50 - so don't believe the £399 RRP for one minute.

That's correct, whereas the privacy glass would not be fitted by the dealer, he would phone Pentagon or someone to do the car for him. So you are unlikely to get the glass done as part of the deal, more likely to get the Pureguard done for free & a free service. Both of these, although costly to yourself, will cost the dealer very little.

I did actually get the Privacy glass in the deal, I was pleased about that! The car actually goes off site somewhere (Kendal or Preston he mentioned) to have the Tints done. I have said I wanted it the same % tint as the factory privacy. The Pureguard treatment is also included. I didn't persue the service issue, I figure that, when it comes to it, it will be VAT free anyway and I may well buy the necessary oil myself - it should only be an A inspection.
