Picked up my CLK 55 today. Tansanite blue. What can I say, I am in love and completely seduced by it.

I am going to moisturise the black nappa leather now. Just want to have a feel ...

Amazingly, driving back from Oxford to London, it did 25 mpg!!

It's completely and utterly lovely.

The power is near instant, incredibly strong in any speed, relentless, intoxicating. Acceleration is a bit like taking off in a plane. Handling is surprisingly agile and sharp, if lacking a little in feel. What a very tactile and ergonomic steering wheel.

Hills are irrelevant, ride is taut, but miles better than my C240 Sport.

The sound is a muted growl .. not done the kick down switch yet. Too wet to drive with windows down and sunroof open ..

Sean,

Congratulations on your new car - & I love that colour :D :)

The good news for you is that [if my AMG experiences are anything to go by] those feelings will last a long long time

The only bad news is that once you've got an AMG, it's very very difficult to go back... ;)

Good Choice!!

I really like the W208 CLK55, looks very masculine and powerful, the side profile is better than the W209 CLK55 IMO.

What colour is the interior?

Matt.

Yes, I am very jealous, well done.

I think the w208 CLK55 is the most discrete of al the AMG's. A real wolf in sheeps clothing. Sure the stance of it is mean, but the w208 CLK55 I rarely see and with all the CLK's running about on AMG wheels they don't raise unwanted attention.

I couldn't have gone far without flooring it though.......well done on your self control too!

Neeeeeeeeeeed pictures!!!

Maff/Matt: tansanite blue and the interior is black leather, with the usual dark wood and light grey, nearly white roof lining. I also prefer W208 shape and outline -- still a very beautiful yet 'tough' shape -- but then so does my bank account :)

GrahamC230K: now I have AMG exhausts too :) because it is that dark blue (tansanite), you really can't tell it's the fast one. On the M40 this afternoon, a W208 let me pass, so he could have a look :) he knew what he was looking at.

I've spun the rear wheels a few times tonight in town, involuntarily ... still not used to all that power.

pics to follow very soon, as soon I get the car out in sunlight. I am growing very fond of the steering wheel, a joy to behold.

This is so unfair !!!

Enjoy it as much as you can but please bear us poor mortals in mind and don't rub the salt into the wound too much !! :) :)

Well done Sean ..... if you want some chrome speedo rings fitted , let me know .... will have to test drive it first of course, to make sure its safe to work on, and that the speedo needle goes all the way round ;) :D

Congrats, and enjoy it !

S.

Congrats on the car mate enjoy. Can t wait to see the pictures or see at the next GTG. I am thinking of looking at a SLK32 AMG tomorrow though its a little dear. Still looking towards the E55 though. Give me a shout if you want to show it off and I will pop over from SE16.

What age and is it a Cab?

Cheers
Ian

Congrats Sean. I used to have the same car in Silver - totally agree with your comments. Its an amazing noise when you start it - goes like stink, and the power is relentless - has to be felt to be believed. Try it in 3rd on the motorway using tiptronic... oh what fun.

Beautiful car... :)

V.Nice! Same colour as my previous CLK230 Cab, with slightly tinted windows it looks even better! :D

It's a shame none of the new AMG's come with the embossed 'AMG' steering wheel, thats a nice touch.

Whats the green and red buttons to the left of the headlight switch?

It's the bluetooth hands free kit which came with the car -- so easy to set up too: turn phone bluetooth on, find devices, enter security code, done. Works quite well. Needs stereo to be on to work.
