"Moisturise" ???

Picked up my CLK 55 today. Tansanite blue. What can I say, I am in love and completely seduced by it.

I am going to moisturise the black nappa leather now. Just want to have a feel ...

Amazingly, driving back from Oxford to London, it did 25 mpg!!

It's completely and utterly lovely.

The power is near instant, incredibly strong in any speed, relentless, intoxicating. Acceleration is a bit like taking off in a plane. Handling is surprisingly agile and sharp, if lacking a little in feel. What a very tactile and ergonomic steering wheel.

Hills are irrelevant, ride is taut, but miles better than my C240 Sport.

The sound is a muted growl .. not done the kick down switch yet. Too wet to drive with windows down and sunroof open ..

We all know just how "exciting" it is to get a new car - but "moisturising" the leather? That is going a bit too far if you ask me.............!!! :D ;) :D ;)

Had A Play Tonight

Finally had a chance to test out the SLK pedals tonight :bannana:

Did not manage to click the kickdown switch but still managed to 'bully' a Fiesta into moving over quickly. I don't think he quite got over how quickly I was on his bum from the roundabout :D

The soundtrack is best from about 3250 rpm all the way to 6000 rpm (yes I got there but only for a very short while, way too short a while). From idle to 3000, it's a sort of a "I'm not really in the mood sort of growl" .. then after that, well, it's sounds like a civilised version of the Dodge Charger my brother has in the US. An insistent, erupting, yet cultured but definitely mechanical sort of noise I can't really describe. It's a bit like lots and lots of melodious farts in very quick, perfectly timed, succession :D :D

Meanwhile, cars that were far away moments ago are now lit all too clearly by the Xenons

For the first time, I managed to dislodge my phone and the garage remote controller (from the shelf below the Audio 10CD) on to the gearshift area by doing a hooligan start from the lights. And no wheelspin!

Also tried the 3rd gear motorway stunt .. from 70, suddenly (in about the time it takes to wriggle around in the seat), I was in very illegal and certain license loosing territory. But pressed on for a bit just to get to 6000 - no idea what speed that was as I watching the rev counter. And then foot off before my clean licence gets stained!

I am going to like this car
