The saga continues.....

I'm surprised they agreed to assist at all once their original customer disposed of the car.

It was done at a dealer and they messed it up in the first place and it has a two year warranty regardless.

Does all UK MB dealers suck?
Most swedish MB dealers have the same reputation here in Sweden too!
There's only one word: Incompetency
I ask them something they don't know the answer!

In my city there is 1 MB dealer that took over almost all MB dealer competitors in other Swedish cities and now they are a huge incompetent MB chain, like a giant octopus with long tentacles!

MB parts are expensive like hell because of no competition from other dealers!
That means they can charge what ever they like!
Scheize verdamt!

Does Bmw dealers suffer the same illness?
That means the incompetence?

Why get your hands dirty servicing someone else's car - you could take it to a good local indi :D

Just tell MB it is overdue a service and not roadworthy and they need to sort it before you get pulled over - actually it is your responsibility to make sure the car is roadworthy as the driver so you do need to let them know in writing just in case you do get pulled over - tyres are endorsable so be careful there.

Yes pretty much all the main dealers suffer from the same problems in the UK. They all lost sight of the real customer when the manufacturers decided to take control of the retail side of the car selling and servicing side of the business - driven mainly by marketing "gurus" showing that they can control the "brand" and the "customer experience" - take it away from those oily rag sort of service managers who can tell a dipstick from an alternator pulley and put it in the hands of uniformly branded girlies recruited from the Lancome counter at Harrods. Then put an ambitious sales oriented self starter with a marketing degree from the University of Bangor in as dealer principal and Bobs your uncle.

personally I would leave the car needing a service.
Note down the overdue mileage whan the car goes back.
Then we can all keep an eye out for it when it comes onto the market with 'full MBSH'

Should be interesting......

PS I think that all concerned have been treated disgracefully. No wonder the dealer reputation is so poor.

Olly do you think any of the poor service is beacuse you are an "Indie" and perhaps seen as the "enemy"

Hi.
yeah, a brand new shop with a serious and caring boss that is concerned about his and his biniz reputation will always be your best bud when you leave your car at his shop!
And you as the owner will leave the place happy knowing your car was taken care of.
As a bonus you paid less than stealership robbing you for money and parts you don't wanna spend.

I notice you can cuss in German but I can't say Richard Turpin :D

I'm a pritty funny guy!
I can cuss in different languages.
Jebemti majku picku: means when you cuss to someones mother!
(you wanna pork his or hers motha) :bannana:
Da ti ja ebam sestrata: means cuss to someones sistah
(pork his or hers sistah? :p
Both cussing sentences are in Balkan language

When you come to a new country it's the profanaties you get to learn first  :bannana: pritty funny

They promise to keep me updated.

Still no phone call today......

I think we should let them know that their dealership is under the spot light. We should, collectively, Phone them everyday till they get p!ssed off with us and get Olly his car back as it should be :D:devil:

From a trade point of view, service items are on par with most other manufactures. If you want patten parts all over your car then its ok, but my experiance with MB, ordering car, lcv and hgv parts day in, day out, they are easily as good and cheap as any other dealer. Its down to the individual dealer franchise. BMW are usually worse on parts costs and service rates.
Not often I stick up for dealerships, but having worked at one and now dealing each day with my ex-workmates, I have to admit that my local one was ok and thats not being biased, just my personal opinion.

I'm reffering to swedish MB dealers.
there's weak pricing competition between aftermarket autoparts stores like they have a cartel or something?
They almost have the same price on the same parts, there's only pennies that differs!

About dealerships, weak competition!
1 company made a takeover and took over the other MB dealers, which means it's the same company in many cities, good way for them to keep their prices high! I go crazy for that

Sorry, just read this but totally agree with every word! And it's just not Mercedes who have gone like that!

Well my tuppence, u can't interfere with the car u just set urself up for truble. Just badger them till u get ur car back in a good state of repair, stay far far away after and most important warn others of ur experience. Last point is .. Main dealer = main ripoff . Trust no one but yourself

I still don't have my car back.....

NO phone calls and no updates either.

Have they crashed it?

I hate that... When someone doing a service for you can't be bothered to keep you in touch with what's happening. I'd be climbing the walls in your position, but then I'd probably already have let them know that I want to be kept informed of progress - daily. Hope you get some good news soon.

Its Brentford isnt it? Can make a trip if it helps... Infact just seen on the first post.... got a meeting in the city tomorrow so can pop in on way past.... let me know

What about a phone call to Watch Dog, I'm sure that they would love to show up these sort of Dealers that dont give a dam
