Helloooo all :)

I have a W203 C230k face lift which I really like however I saw a SLK 32 AMG the other day and it reminded me how much I love the look of that car!! Plus the 3.2 supercharged engine isn't bad either ;)

What sort of money can these be had for now? I was thinking I might be able to chop my car in and only pay a little extra for one?

Does that sound likely?

Do we have many SLK 32 AMG owners lurking on the forum? I would love to hear from you if we do!!

Thanx for any info :)

Mike

There are a few SLK32 owners on here. A really great car.

You're looking at an entry point of about £15k, but £18k should get you a nice choice.

Budget for an MB warranty from the outset, to give you some reassurance whilst you assess whether you bagged a peach or a lemon.

Thanx for the info and links :) Would the SLK be a lot more to run and maintain compared to my current c class?

Both those SLKs look great!! :D

I've owned one of the only 27 SLK32s imported into the UK in 2003 for just under 3 years now. Like it? Oooooooh, yes!

It goes like greased weasel-poo. 0-60 in about 4.8 and I cruised easily at 210 kph in Germany in April. Overall consumption for a 1500 mile trip in €uroland worked out at 28 mpg. That included crawling through snow and icy roads, Autobahn blasts as well as more normal town and urban drives.

Reliability (apart from one rear 3/4 window which wasn't an AMG item) has been excellent - although I pay for an extended warranty every year.

Don't forget that, unlike in smaller-engined models, you get all the options, bells and whistles thrown in for free with the '32. Apart, that is, from SatNav but then I just use a Garmin 660 mounted on the glareshield which is great:

One accessory I bought which was really good was a set of 'roadster bags' from Roadster Concept. These fit the boot perfectly below the roller blind - and held everything I needed (clothes, documents, second computer plus various cables, bits and bobs, etc etc) - and meant that I could enjoy early Spring motoring with the roof down in southern Germany:

The only things which aren't very good about the car are the alleged seat heaters. The back rests get warm enough, but the bum heaters are useless.

If you buy a 32, you will need a box of lemons. Chew one every 10 minutes to take the idiot grin off your face!

and to hell with the envirofundamentalists! Insurance? Probably not cheap but you won't get the chance twice - Fat Gordon and Darling Alistair will soon make fun illegal!

That review makes me want one!!! I tried them on the internet but they wouldn't quote. I think I might try ringing them.

I tried autotrader insurance search and the best was £1800 with the others being around £3000!!

When I get back after the weekend I will try another search! The idea of 0-60 in under 5secs is amazing!!!

What MPG do you get for normal city driving nick as thats what I mainly do :)

Thanx for the replies!! :D

Try Privilege insurance, Im 34 with full NCB and pay £390 fully comp. For some reason its cheaper with my girlfriend added to the policy and shes 28 with no NCB at all.

I'm also with Privilege. One tip - do NOT acccept their 'automatic renewal' because it is considerably more expensive than an on-line quote....

I don't drive in cities much - I loathe them. But it's not the mpg rate which matters, it's the total annual mileage which is more relevant.

See my previous posts regarding this car including the trip down to Monte Carlo in The Gallery. Regarding insurance, I took out a policy with More Than via Quidco.co.uk and got £100 cash back and a monthly premium of £35PM, I'm certainly not a Vicar living in Penzance but do have full no claims. Great car and certain to become rare, I'm another one of those 27 owners who have a 2003 model :)

Would a SLK 320 be a better bet, its now slouch, more insurer + cost friendly.
