Thinking of buying C63 …..

I see your point, I did just as you are posting, I went and bought a brand new E350 sport coupe just a few weeks ago but I only lasted 265 miles in it, It was just not a patch on the C63507 in any way, nice car, but not for me :fail saying that, now my 800 mile old C63507 is up for sale due to a " issue " with Merc Uk over my car having the wrong ( std c63 18s fitted ) wheels fitted and Merc uks ****ty attitude, Its a R8 V10 for me in the spring :thumb: and that will be the last merc I buy.

Don't know the detail but you're binning a car because it had the wrong wheels on it? Did they get the original order wrong i.e it should have been 19s? If you ordered something and didn't get it then "Sale of Goods" could be brought up maybe?

If you can afford an R8 V10 you could get a decent set of aftermarket wheels for the C63 :thumb:

I can of course afford a set of wheels for the C63 its just Merc UKs " **** you " attitude that ****** me off, I have bought Three new Mercs this year, 2 I still have,

I did not twig they were 18s when I bought the car as I was offshore and had only glanced at the car in the showroom, As I told MERC UK I quite happy to pay for the oem 19s but they wont even give me a discount, full price or nothing, Bear in mind without the OEM 19s the cars worth £3.5k Less that one with the correct wheels,

But in the end I bought it so its down to me for being a dumb ass and not insisting on the correct wheels when parting with the money,

It has just spoiled the car for me now so unless I fall back in love with it its getting chopped, I am just scunnerd with it, And am very tired of being asked " Why does your car have the wrong wheels on it? Or is that 507 stripes on a std C63"

Merc uk are just saying you have bought the car now *uck off until you want a another one daft *unt ( or that's the way I see it )

BTW Merc Edinburgh have been great but its not down to them.

Its a pity to let your c63 go as they are a great car.....perhaps what should have happened was Mercedes Edinburgh should have stepped up and covered the cost of the wheels to keep you as a happy/loyal customer and hope for future business from you......as you have said you have bought previous Mercedes.

Mercedes Edinburgh could then have taken it up with Mercedes UK.

I presume if you go R8 it will be the new 5.2 v10 stronic.....its a stunning car , but is it worth double the price of a c63...??

Can I be controversial? Why do you want a C63? If it's a case of "I must have the top of the range", I or intend to use it around a track, or I love the look of it -then I guess nothing else will do. However, my C350 won't touch a C63 round a track but in the real world where there is a limit to how fast you will go on a public road. My 3.5 litre car can keep up with most people including Boxsters, Caymans and this week a TVR. Given that I'm not prepared to go near my 155mph limiter and given that a C63 gets to 60 only 1.5 secs before I do then on a run I bet I could arrive virtually at the same time as a C63 (awaits incoming!). Road tax is about the same but things like non AMG branded brakes are loads cheaper and mine uses less fuel. Given that £12k would buy a good C350 with 8k left of your budget for mods or a holiday! Oh and there are nearly 2000 C63s in the country and only 99 C350s like mine......just thinking aloud!

If you knew Mr. Poseidon you would understand why! When he turns up at the Bluewater meets in his R34 you hear an almighty exhaust roar and the multi-storey shakes, then he crosses the Dartford bridge and enters Bluewater!

Merc Edinburgh have taken it up with Merc uk who have taken it up with Affalterbach, Germany, with no luck As yet..

I have even offered to pay toward the cost of the wheels and tyres, Just lets have a bit discount, But no, Just a big *uck off From Merc Uk, Full price or *uck off...

The cost does not really come in to it, its the principal you see...I do still have some hope for a happy resolution, So fingers crossed!

If not I am back from my tin island in a few weeks and I have already started taking to Audi about this, And they know I am not messing as my mate bought one there two weeks ago..

LOL Maybe a C63 is right for him then :)

Yes.......you do seem to have been mucked about and principal is a good thing.

I am sure if you could get access to someone in Affalterbach yourself it would be sorted pretty quickly.

Enjoy the R8 if you get it.....i dont want to presume your budget but have you ever considered something lie this

By the time a C350 hits 100mph from zero a C63 will be travelling at 125mph it will be covering 36ft per second more or 2 car lengths every second.

I tried to get MB to lend me one when the fix my C63 rattles but was told that they couldn't (or couldn't be ****d), so I will probably never know how they compare.

All true but in the real world you can't drive to work at 125mph. My commutes are done at 60 ish. So I'm going to be 1.5 sec behind you :) The other day I kept up with a TVR and he could not get away unless he went up to the speeds you are talking about.

Are you this angry all the time?

If so, you might want to have the old blood pressure checked.

Sorry if this is too much thread hijack but I find this a crazy situation (when you bought the car basically pre-ordered new). Obviously the principal here is not going to affect Mercedes in the slightest - in fact they will probably profit from your principal - if they get your 507, they will buy/sell at a profit but I'm on your side with this whole thing.

So they refused to supply the wheels even at cost or dealers discounted rate?

What about selling the 18s - they will cover some of the shortfall wouldn't they?

Good luck

Dunc

C63 or C350

Great and valid points . Logically ,the C350 is what I should be buying .
I did contemplate the RA350 , but is not an AMG V8 . I know I would still long for a C63.

I can go on ,but the end of the day , I'm an utter petrol head . Need I say more ?:D

No I understand entirely :) :bannana:

I'm unsure if it's still for sale, but there was an 08 black c63 on the trader for £20,500...it's not got the biggest spec list but seems cheap enough

Yep £20,950 with 88k miles.

Yes you do but
a. It's a lovely V6 noise.
b. You can make it sportier if you want with x pipes or a brabus exhaust etc. c. A C63 can be a bit too noisy when you are trying to be discrete...

:thumb: Yes you can 'beef it up' but that fact remains - it still will not sound a patch on the C63. That being one of the very reasons I bought mine - I think it sounds awesome ..... thunderous ..... still love starting mine up in a morning + selecting N in traffic and blipping the throttle :D

Im just sad like that !!
