Anyone got experience of Tier 2 Warranty cover?

If so how did it compare to Tier 1, and did you have anything declined?

All thoughts and comments appreciated.

I've used tier2 twice on the SLK.

One battery and one new CAT .

Excellent service and no-quibbles from MB on both occasions, mobilo supplied a replacement car on the battery as the car was immobilised. On the 2nd claim the car was ok to drive to the dealer and my wife was delivered and collected from work while the car was in.

I've the brochure somewhere which shows the difference between the two levels but as I recall, it was a bit complicated.

I was surprised to see that tier2 not only covers the CAT but the whole exhaust.

Thanks for that - sounds like it was worth it for you.

I have the brochure that came with my Tier 1 warranty, which I suspect is what you have.

My Service Advisor did say that it's quite limited compared to Tier 1 - and it is I suppose. Tier 1 covers pretty much anything and everything bar a few exclusions, whereas Tier 2 is the opposite, ie a list of what IS included.

That said, like you, it surprised me too that the catalysts and exhaust was covered.

The difficulty is though working out what sort of stuff wouldn't be covered, and that made my head hurt, hence posting here to see if anyone had any experience. :D

PS It looks it's not only Service Plus that's had a premium hike in recent months - Tier 2 has gone up £200 too.

I agree that tier 2 is not as comprehensive as tier 1.
Having said that I would think that it's substantially better than the usual dealer sold warranty.
A mate used to sell new and used MB and always said that Mercedes pay a fortune for their warranties - I expect that are underwritten by an insurance company and the premiums that MB pay are larger than the average.

I wonder how I would have got on with trying to claim for a new battery and CAT under any other used car sales warranty?

Of course, I'll be singing from a different hymn sheet if I try and claim for one of the excluded items!

Batteries are nearly always excluded from warranties, IMO the Merc one (even tier 2) is pretty good.
