Torquing BHP GTG

From Torquing BHP:

The SL320 V6 will have an increase in power from 224bhp to 246bhp and torque increased from 315Nm to 345Nm. We also de-limit the vehicle when the remap is carried out.

The cost of the remap will be £425+vat.

Price before discount.

Sounds good - but why Cambridge ? What do they need to do in addition to the ECU that has to be done in a workshop ?

I'd prefer the price to be south of £400 too....

That's about double what Superchips claim!

Does a SL320 have anthing limiting it going over 155 other than the combination of engine and weight!! LOL

For turbo cars I believe the work is more thorough - I can clarify if you like. DMS would be nearer £600 for a similar increase, so the price is pretty good. If you're interested then we can see what the discount would be.

The fast one !

I'm not sure they can do anything for the older models - do you know the engine code?

Check my post in the thread when you announced your E320CDI purchase! ;)

You know it makes sense Jimmy.......enjoy some of this discounted, satisfaction garaunteed remapping goodness! As a CDI owner you are going to reap the biggest gain as you know.

TWO HUNDRED and FIFTY EIGHT BHP!!!!

I'd be interested in this in a couple of months - way too much on to get to Cambridge at the moment.....

Does it include before and after dyno runs???

The price doesn't include dyno runs - a mobile service this would be impossible anyway. Ideally we're looking to do the first GTG away from Cambridge as logistically if we're all west of London they should come to us - provided the cars aren't specifically required to go to their workshop.

Thanks - yes please.

DMS quote btw is more like 795 + VAT, for 204 bhp to 250 bhp and increase torque from 500 Nm to 602 Nm. They also claim its undetectable by MB.

I'd like to know why the Cambridge location specifically (DMS Claim they can do it anywhere) and the discount would be interesting....

Is it worth asking DMS for a similar quote for a bulk deal ?

BTW I'm east of London, so Cambridge is easier for me - although still a good hour at least.

I'll keep my eye on the thread for dates/locations then and I'll try and find a local (reputable) rolling road for before/after comparisons.

Like I say I won't be able to get darn sarf for a while though :(

To be honest I would only do it out of curiosity, I don't feel the car needs any extra power, I am 110% happy with as it is. (ask me in a years time and it may be different!!)

I have loads of excuses why not to, cost, insurance, longevity blah, blah but I really cannot justify it, I don't use the car much and from tomorrow it will become a second car for me and only get used at the weekends.

I would still like to know what an extra 90Nm feels like pushing you back into the seat though!!

Their reply:

When remapping the ECU on the W211 CDI models we need remove the ECU and work in an electro-statically safe environment, this cannot be done 100% safely on a mobile basis.

There's the difference then - I am sure DMS removed my ECU - this was done at my premises by their mobile service. It's a reasonable justification though. It must put some people off, so they wouldn't say it unless they had good reason.

I'm interested for my W211 E320CDI (euro 4) - which makes it Cambridge for me!

Will they do a 14-day unmap if you're not happy?

The reason I ask is that I had my C270CDI superchipped but after a while it smoked too much (the EGR valve failed - not sure if this was connected or coincidental) and in talking to Dave at superchips he said not all cars were suited.

Might still come along for the day!

This is one thing i have been thinking about for my C230K for a while
But im always unsure as in my case the price usually starts at a good price but ends up being too high and i dont feel happy with the end result!

Any idea on how much it'll be for my car and what would be done ect ect?

Benny have a chat to Graham - he has a thread dedicated to remapping his C230K - I'm sure he'll be along soon to offer advice anyway.

Jeremy they will do an 'unmap' if you're not completely satisfied.

To be honest, I would like to hear what Torquing BHP would commit to figures wise to someone else enquiring about a C230K. They were confident when I spoke to them, but I think less commital to exact figures like the other enquiries as I had already introduced my failed DMS remap when I emailed them.

It's hopefully not going to be the outcome of the GTG, but very much part of T'BHP and DMS' pitch is that they have a satisfaction gaurantee. I would hope this to be a reversal there and then if you are not happy, or a refund following a reversal in a time period, I am sure T'BHP would confirm.

They suggested approx 15BHP increase and more torque to me, personally I will only believe it once I see the results on a dyno.

I'm game, come on Benny, nothing much to loose!
