This is the first chance I have had to get round to doing a dedicated thread.
As you are no doubt aware the shed was fitted with upgraded springs and dampers. This has made the car tighter, more direct, more progressive and grippier.
As you can see, there is a minor change to the ride height. I don't want the car to drop too much. I like to drive on undulating roads etc.
I don't want to take too close up a shot as the wings are damaged from when the springs failed and the car fell onto them. £300 will have her sorted out, including an outbreak of ferrous oxide on a door edge.
As it was my mates last weekend in the country I let him call the shots for the desintation on Saturday, I fancied a long blast up Glencoe, Glen Etive then up via Loch Lagan to Aviemore and back via Tomintoul and Braemar. This is one of the best driving laps in Scotland.
What did he want, Fife and Edinburgh. Ah well.
The scenery isn't quite the same
However, the Kingdom of Fife is blessed with some really good A and B roads and I know them really well as I hoon here often. The shed came alive dropping foolish type R sorts who foolishly try and kept up in the twisties. It proved madjestic. Tad firmer when at low speeds, but a sense of prespective is needed by the ride quality above all else fan bois. This set up may be too firm, but a drive in a budget supermini reveals this set up to be entirely suitable without making a large car feel like a boat.
Whilst Edinburgh may not be the last word in driving nirvana, it gave me a chance to try her on cobbled streets etc. She was fine.
There is a brilliant Kurdish restaurant called Hanams in Edinburgh. Its great for Shisha smoking and kebabs.
The view of the old town is nice too
After this, the shed attacked the M8 back to glasgow. 33mpg. That says it all about the speed, but she is so planted at speed compared to before. I've had this car since 44k miles before it was tired out, and it never felt like this.
The next day, was much more like it. Not a long run, but a nice drive to the other side of Loch Lomond to the pub at Rowardenen, by the foot of Ben Lomond.
Nom nom!!!
The last time I drove this road, was in my mates Golf MK V Golf DSG thing with sports suspension. Like a GTD sort thing. Really good. The shed would hump it. Trust me.
The road isn't the best surface, but the place has good memories for my mate so it seemed fitting to send him off with lunch here.
And the view is amazing
I'm really going to miss my mate actually, really glad he has got the job, but it won't be the same without him.
