towing with c200K?

Hi Gazzdid - I have a caravan and up until recently, towed it with a 2005 C220CDI auto. The caravan weighed in at just under 1500kg fully loaded and the car pulled the caravan effortlessly and had no issues with power

Hi mate Ive spoke to MB and apart from giving me a heart attack by quoting me £2500 to fit a towbar theyve told me they also change the rear bumper and uprate the cooling fan. has yours been uprated and have you had any issues with cooling? personally I dont think its something i need to worry about but just wondered if you were towing with standard cooling?

by the way, FYI ive been quoted £365 fully fitted for a detachable towbar with twin electrics. not bad I thought. thats not a proper wiring loom job though just a retrofit. not actually sure whether theres a proper wiring loom available for my model but im fairly sure it would cost a fortune if there is!

My personal thoughts are that you should not worry about uprating the fan. Just keep an wary eye on the temp if you're climbing a long hill in hot weather. (Fat chance)

I would highly recommend you ask about fitting a 13 pin continental socket instead of the twin. Of course you would also have to convert the caravan but a 13 pin is so much better engineered and easier to engage it would be money well spent.

Easy peasy then. Just ensure that whatever cable you buy has the larger 2.5 mm cables as specified here. Not all do!

You can buy an adaptor cable instead if that floats your boat.... A bungie makes a useful tie to support cable above road with a bit of flex for when required.

Hi Gazzdid. I've got a C200K as well, and have been trying to find a towbar for it for ages - so very interested in the quote you got! Did you follow it up, and if so, could you let me know who it was? Cheers
