Tracker or RAC Trackstar +

As suggested, the easiest option would be to speak to your dealer if it’s a new car, they should be able to help and arrange fitting before collection. They’ll almost certainly subcontract it to a third-party specialist.

If you’d prefer directly with the fitter then there are lots of tracker manufacturers and even more fitters to choose from. I would personally gravitate towards Smartrack (Global Telemetrics) and Tracker.

Ask for it to be fitted at the dealer before collection.

Thank you so much. Will speak to the dealer regarding this as am yet to collect the car. Do you know if theirs will be cheaper than getting from Smarttrack and Tracker?

I’m fairly confident that the dealer will be a little more expensive than elsewhere, the reason being that they will subcontract it to a specialist and charge a margin on top. Some people find the convenience and assurance of the main dealer doing it worth the extra cost.

Just get quotes.

I'd definitely also get a ghost fitted on top unless the tracker you're getting has an immobiliser eg CAT 5.
When I bought my c63s brand new, insurance provider wanted a tracker, (Vodafone scorpion i think) mercedes Cambridge basically put me in touch with a third party that I arranged it all with but then the security firm told me not to get a CAT 5 (can go into their logic) , so instead they did a CAT 6 install, they didnt do ghosts, and my neighbour installed ghost once I picked the car up.

Can you provide the details of the third party company you used please? Also what do you mean by a ghost fitted?

Depends where you're buying your car from. I bought that car from MB Cambrigde and I don't think they were a national fitter. I'm pretty sure your dealer can put you in touch with businesses close by that do security add ons

I've been using autowatch ghosts since 2016 and 5 cars to date. Essentially the immobiliser connects to your car's CAN bus and can't be driven without being disarmed by either a Bluetooth fob/ phone or a code using your car buttons eg on steering wheel unless the wanna be thieves can locate the ghost and it's a tiny piece of kit that is very hard to locate

Ok getting my from MB Stevenage they provided details of any third party but the cost seems to be too expensive that's why am asking for the one the MB Cambridge recommended for you.

Just to clarify you got the CAT 6 fitted and the ghost fitter too? Is the Cat 6 an approved Thatcham tracking device? Thanks
