TRAX Gallary

Well it seems none of our cars got into the "Official" TRAX gallary, probably because we were randomly at the 0-60 most of the day!

But my mates with their cherry Sheesha got in there ! lol

Rashman - you have a lot to answer to!

After speaking with Rashman at Trax and looking at the stunning condition he keeps his car, we talked on how he got the inside of his exhausts so clean.
Well for some reason this afternoon after giving the car a very thorough wash I decided to see if I could get the exhausts a little cleaner "a la Rashman"

Here's first attempt, may need another going over (and of course the other 3) as its clean but not as smooth as I would like but was actually amazed what some elbow (OK finger) grease 5 different grades of wet and dry and some metal polish will do.

Good work Paul! :thumb:

You've made a good start indeed!

Far play for adopting the route I took too - hand-power and sand paper, as apposed to a dremel. Although it takes longer with sand paper, I'd rather use a method that gets the job done gradually so you can see how it's going as you work, thus not over-doing it or wearing the metals down too much.

I've noticed that the metal on the insides of the tailpipes differs on some AMG's. I'm guessing that they may have changed their method or materials as time went on.

But if you work away at them like you're doing, they should come up lovely after a good polishing.

It'll take some time but they'll come good.

Then they'll be soooo much easier to keep clean. A simple wipe out after each journey is all they'll need, and then a quick going over with polish every so often.

I did the same with my exhaust, using a cut down fine grade flap wheels and a battery drill. Then used Autosol metal polish to finish off... 45mins a pipe almost a mirror finish!

Which means my pinky was saved for more important tasks ;)

15mins a pipe..... beats my 1.5hrs a pipe! :eek::crazy: LOL
The results were very satisfying nonetheless

Autosol is what I use too. Good stuff indeed :thumb:

Enjoy your...."important tasks".... lol! :D

... I thought I was the only mad one that polishes exhaust pipes... it's good to know I'm not alone lol

Well you have now given me something extra to do when cleaning the car.... The other half already thinks I'm mad with what I already do.

As we are on the subject of exhaust pipes, this is my Escort RS tailpipe after i had cleaned it.
Not done the C43 one properly yet

Wow how do you get it so clean! On my pipe there tiny spots of what looks like tar that I just can get off any suggestions? Plus the inside needs a good clean, so I think go down the route of sanding it down.

Brake cleaner may get the tar spots off, then try very fine wet and dry sand paper then metal polish :thumb:

Have a look at this old thread, I still use the shiny sinks and then apply a metal polish afterwards.
