TRAX 2012 Silverstone Sunday 2nd Sept

Just washed mine, got the brillo pad out and all looks good.... Rash will approve!!

Brillo pad?

Only used on the tailpipes, I hope!

For best results, now hit your tailpipes with some Autosol.. That'll bring them up in a good shine and remove any light scratching from the Brillo pad :thumb:

Rash bring some of that autosol stuff down with you, i can never get the exhausts clean enough. need some of your OCD applied to them

My new local detailer (Robbie of Valet Magic) is doing me a favour and giving the car a good going over tomorrow morning – he normally doesn’t work on a Saturday, so I am very grateful to him for sorting it out. It’s not in poor condition, but I just can’t get the results that he does…

Hopefully I won’t embarrass the MBClub on Sunday – but I do have a one and half hour trip up the M25 and M40 to make – goodness only knows what might be stuck to the front of it when I arrive (hopefully not a ‘chaved up’ Astra or Corsa!).

Really looking forward to seeing you all there.

Lol, ok, I will bring some.

Bare in mind that I spent an hour and a half on EACH tailpipe, using 2 grades of sand paper to clear off all the crap from the insides of the tailpipes - and also to get the surfaces smoother than they were from factory.

Then I spent the following few evenings polishing them up with Autosol to get rid of the fine scratches caused by the sandpaper.

Now they are a doddle to clean.. I just give them a wipe out after each journey and then apply alittle Autosol now and again to brighten them :)

Bare in mind that the insides of the tailpipes were never smooth from factory and you will notice a texture or series of lines in the metal.

It's these that I tried to work out as much as I could. I'm getting there but there are still a few faint ones I need to get rid of.

Some tailpipes are smooth on the inside, like the round Brabus ones that Cliff has, but generally the AMG ones aren't.

Mark, hey buddy!
Hope you are well :thumb:

As Alps says, I'm sure your SLS will look grand no matter what chavvie "spaceships" are caught in your front grille! Lol

I too have a 2 hr journey to make, which is why I'm hoping for dry conditions.
I have literally spent hours and hours on my car in the last week and don't want all my work undone because of rain

Wow guys at least 2 of you with cars at detailers and 1 further car is a day old, add to that there are at least 3 of you with severe OCD and now I'm starting to worry about my car. To add insult to injury when I picked the car up from Olly this afternoon his passing words "you are going to wash it before Sunday aren't you?"

So now I have a dilemma if I have the car washed it will still look like crap in comparison so thinking I should go for the full on sleeper look with 3 weeks of dust and dirt, what do you think?

Haha.. Olly is cruel to have planted that seed in your mind  :D

"Severe OCD"... LOL! :D...... probably right though  :D

If you want my opinion, I would say give her a wash and a layer of wax if you have time. That should get it shining more than enough.

I was not there last year so only going by vids and discussions.

Acid did 4.13 and that was before his new engine build, ice box and larger pulley so who knows what he can do this year. The SLS has an official 3.8 secs so will be interesting to see how that performs. I think Alps and Lopes80 both did sub 4.5 secs with Lopes80 I think doing 4.33 or 4.31.

Lol, what is all this? :D

I'll happily take a look at them for you.

I'm sure there's nothing that abit of time and elbow grease couldn't sort out.

Just to clarify, I'm no detailer - like some of the guys on here that do it professionally. I just addressed one thing at a time and tried my hand a getting things looking good.

I don't want to create the impression that I know best, and I'm sure there are recommended/ advisable ways of tackling each aspect of a car, I just found a way for each job that worked for me, that's all.

I wasn't planning on bringing a bootful of detailing things but I will certainly share ideas with you.

Justin. My C43 will be there. I managed a 0-60 of 5.1 with 18's. Jacks old car did a 4.9.

Both fitted with the 5.5 of course ;)

Oh and Adam the detailer is filling my boot with his products.

I'm going out now to wash the car and decontaminate it ready for good polishing tomorrow :D Just fitted rear spacers that were a total b**** but got there in the end, rears don't look lost in the arches now!

just did the same gave the car a good clean before the polishing tomorrow!

took all the wheels off for a inside and out cleaning, and found out 3 new tyres needed!!
wonderful!! so its now booked in for a new set of tyres ouch :(
