So it's that time of year when our oak tree lays its sap on the car.

Any recommendations for a cover? I got a £15 one last year for my BMW but it ripped very easily!

Just a thought!

I wish I could but it has a preservation order on it! Lovely tree...:)

It's not coming down as we do actually like the look of it. It is definitely being trimmed this summer as the more air that gets to it the less sap it produces..apparently....!

Sorry, no idea on the car covers. Have never needed one but Demon Tweeks will do them.

You can still give it a near death experience. ;)
We have oaks and others in the back garden. Fortunately not with TPO's on them, but if they had its simply a case of requesting permission to prune a few months before you need to and then giving it a haircut that will last a few years.
Our 'big' Oak is just recovering from its last haircut 4 years ago and will be having another of the same ferosity in the next week. I like the trees and wouldn't be without them, but want them to be inkeeping with what we want/need for the garden.

On a more serious note (following the posting of my flipant chainsaw!) isn't the "sap" you're referring to actually excrement from aphids?

Have you discussed with a qualified tree surgeon as you may be able to spray the tree and reduce / erradicate the problem?

You're not wrong! discussing tonight :)

Outdoor covers are quite critical ... if they don't fit properly they flap when the wind blows and this will mark the paintwork (any dirt on the car or cover acting as an abrasive).
