I can’t ever remember a two car garage thread on MBClub. The rules are simple, no more and no less than two cars to meet all needs, selected within the specified parameters. To keep it fresh and interesting let’s change the parameters over time.

To start, let’s go for the following parameters. Must be:
  • Able to transport a family of 4, adult sized
  • Real cars for sale at time of posting
  • Total cost £20k, based on asking price
So what would your two car garage be?

First a big comfortable car which is unusual, a bit special, fast and fun (for a big comfortable car).

£8,000 for a 2007 Mercedes-Benz ML 63 AMG with 113k miles, and a cracking colour combination. Set aside some of the budget for servicing, repairs and replacing the head unit for COMAND.

£6,390 for a 2020 Smart ForFour with 17k miles, perfect for low-cost frill-free motoring. Limited range but all that’s needed for local journeys with the whole family. No worries about emission zones too.

Total spend £14,390 so plenty left over for servicing and repairs on the ML, and replacing the head unit with COMAND.

OK, I'll play 2015 BMW 320i F31 touring and 2008 Porsche 987 Boxster.

£10k apiece, so £20k all in.

Obviously, I've assumed the family of four requirement applies only to the Family wagon.

Superb choices, and both exceptionally strong contenders for dictionary definitions for “compact family car” and “sports car” respectively 👏🏻

I did wonder if you would demand a four seater as the second vehicle.
so I was ready to play "Golf" or "e-Golf" if required.

But give us another twelve months, and a 2020 VW ID3 becomes a powerful alternative.

I was very tempted to go for a two-seat open-top sportscar as the second car because I am very partial to them, and a Boxster would have been my choice on this one.

That said, if limited to two cars for all purposes then I personally would prefer to forego a sportscar, and instead have two four-seat cars if I need to carry four people. I like back-up plans whenever I can!

I can’t play. There’s so much carp in my garage I can only fit one car in there!
Most people share your pain. Despite the name of the game, unless the parameters of the specific round say otherwise, then you can park on the drive, on the road, in storage, or anywhere else, so don’t hold back 👍🏻

I'd take this E55 at the asking price of almost £13k

and this Mazda 2 hatchback for around town at £6995
That leaves me a tenner for fuel.
