The bi-turbo is just stunning value at the prices they seem to be going for.

What sort of servicing costs am I potentially looking at?
Are they reliable motors?

Anyone got any thoughts etc?

cheers

:)

What year?

Fab motors but big service costs as you might well imagine with a flagship luxury car with 12 clyinders. They used to be twinspark before the turbo'd engines (they still might be) so a dealer spark plug change could be a £400+ affair.

They aren't regarded to be the most reliable of the S classes with most saying to go for the V8, but I'd want a V12 too, its a smoother and altogether better engine layout. There are so few of them about its hard to say whether they are reliable as its mainly fear of the going wrong that puts people off the 12's.

I'd use a specialist for a car like that, and someone who is comfortable with working on a V12.

Its not a bi turbo. Its an N/A 5.7l V12 engine that does for sure need 24 spark plugs.

The newer biturbos are 5500cc and came in later than that. I think 2003-2004. You really want a newer car as they are gavanised and nano paint whereas a 52 plate car will rust a lot more easily.

My uncle has a 2000 S600 and it's given him nothing but problems. He hasn't used it in a year and it has been lying in his garage ever since.

Probably the most famous trader on the internet. Cough cough

Oh right, fair enough...I thought he was referring to Jazz's uncle and his fibbing car.

:D

The add is wrong, its not a bi turbo. Its the older 5700cc engine. Still a fantastic car thats 10% of cost new 7 years ago. Buy it :D

A quick question here. Could it be the first of the newer engines? I know the last of the 129 SLs had the first of the 230 SL 500 engines, and often the last of the pre-facelift models are equipped with engines etc that are designated for the facelift model. Without disputing what you say, could this be the case here, or is there something specific that confirms this?

He does say it is also chipped to 600BHP .... emmmee
what is wrong with the biturbo's 500BHP is not enough?
