Just got a used A180 petrol Avantgarde with the standard 6J x 16 alloys. Looks like it has the original Dunlop 195/55 R16 on the rear and a couple of Matador brand tyres on the front. Never heard of Matador, Wikipedia says they are a Slovakian acquisition of Continental.

I don't like mixing manufacturers (irrational? dunno). The alloys are in good condition so I'm thinking of replacing the four tyres via mytyres.co.uk and a local fitter - any suggestions for a reliable, quiet set that will do the business?

Am I right in thinking that a runflat tyre like the Vredestein QUATRAC 3 VRFC would work with the tyre pressure sensor? Are these worth the extra cash or am I better with the temporary spare?

I use Quatrac 3, but they arent runflats. The factory fitted tyres arent runflat. If you know a garage that will fit tyres you supply have a look at Camskill, you will most likely get them cheaper.

Continental Premium Contact for me. Would avoid runflats as they make for a very harsh ride.

My A150 Avantgarde came with Continental Premium Contact from new. I like Conti's so I have replaced my tyres like for like. I also like to keep the same type of tyres all round on my car

Thanks for the suggestions so far. I've had Continentals in the past and found them ok. I was looking at the Contacts, the new 5 series sound good.

Getting a bit confused looking at the fitting places though, there is a Premium Contact MO version around £90 and Premium Contact 2 for a bit more. Are the MO's an older series (i.e. the ones fitted to A150's car)?

MO is Mercedes fitment, sometimes they cost more than the non 'MO' version of the same tyre, sometimes they are cheaper, just go with whatever is cheaper.

My car came with Bridgestone RE050 from the factory. Mercedes now use Kumho for the factory fitted tyre. I wouldnt just go with Continental for the reason they were once factory fitted.

one way of doing it is to look at

mytyres.co.uk and Tyres Online

and then see what is actually out there for your size and then check the reviews on tyrereviews
