Tyre shine

guess it depends on how long they have been sat on the racks
Yes good point, thhe last 4 that I have bought have come direct from Germany and have been mint.

Tyre fitting shops are very dirty places to be,, interesting thing with rubber is that if you put it in a sealed air tight bag it will last for years, once exposed it starts going down hill quite fast, O rings and drive belts are prime examples

You seem to know allot about rubber Malcolm.

Any reason in particular?

Not what you Think,, after a life time in the audio profession where rubber idler, pinch rollers and drive belts were the norm, one gets used to these things down to the point that if you freeze it you can machine it,,spraying it with freezer as you go

One of my neighbours saw me hosing my tyres down with tyre shine and asked what I was doing, I explained.

He said that when he was in South Africa a few years ago people used to use shoe polish to get the same effect, and it lasts a LOT longer apparently! ;)

I remember buffing racing slicks with Cherry Blossom shoe polish...

Some silicone finishes can deteriorate rubber but has to be soaking in it . Normally the tyre stuff throws off onto the side of your car !!

Bazzle

I find the Meguiars Endurance Gel quite strong smelling, but very nice smelling :)

Just bought and used this for the first time - WOW, it's THE best I've ever used...and it's so much more efficient to use than the sprays. Thanks for the recommendations :bannana: (again)
