Tyre Sizes for 17 inch Wheels

Guys,

I've posted this question on another list.............now it's your turn..

Are 225/45 x 17 tyres ok on a 1992 320 Coupe without rubbing?

I'm hoping to get away without taking a hammer to the arches...............

I run 235 / 45 / 17s on my 220CE, and they "just" clear. They did rub the FRONT of the plastic arch liner on one side, but it wasnt fitted properly. Now they dont rub. 225 / 45 / 17 is the "propper" size.

My CE isnt lowered yet.
