I just picked up a 2008 W204 C220 CDi Sport today and am debating on whether to have the UMI fitted. I can get it fitted for £837 at the local Main Dealer.

I would greatly appreciate any feedback/opinions from anyone who has already had this fitted. I have seen comments that the volume is quite low which is a bit of a concern and also that the navigation is limited in terms of detail.

Many thanks

Its the future and the way to go. There may be a slow take-up at present, but the day will come when ALL cars at all prices will be fitted with this feature.

Did you install the UMI ?

Was it worth?

I've just purchased a 2008 W204 myself and have been looking at doing the same thing.

Thanks

Having installed a UMI or two, its a good device.

a) Its far cheaper than COMAND + iPod kit, and if your dealer doing for 837 take it !!
b) It has 7 digit postcode
c) It gives instructions in the cluster (assuming dealer remembered to code it)
d) It supports iPod or USB plugged in
e) It supports bluetooth audio streaming (although I never tried it), and the Nokia music phones and the iPhone V3 s/w apparently support this - so no need to even plug your phone in !!!

Bad things:
a) No one has worked out how to get map updates
b) There is a software bug (to do with calculating routes) but MB will have a fix in a few weeks - I have not seen the bug appear (apparently it comes up with stupid routes)
c) No speed camera database
- not a lot else

I'd have it hapilly in my car !!

Richard

Thanks for this concise summary Richard! I will be getting it fitted at the Poole Dealership that has quoted the £837.
