upgrade w215 stereo possibly double din

OK, so the new car isn't even on the drive yet and already I'm planning on upgrading the stereo.

from what i heard on the test drive i wasn't impressed with the standard audio (non BOSE) so I feel the need to upgrade it.

If it can be done with a double din unit that would be great as it would also update the interior, I'm not even sure if this is possible.

The car is an 01 W215 with phone option but no TV. Has anyone seen a double din conversion done on one of these or is there a specialist mercedes audio place that could do it. I have no electronic skills whatsoever so it's going to be have to be done by someone else!

assuming the CL is the same radio solutions as the S class, double-din may be possible but i think you'd have to modify or replace the wood trim around it.

ie you need to go from one of these (depending on what you have already):

to a double-din solution.

Maybe one route would be to install facelift wood required for the later COMAND and work around that, or contact Alfie for a OEM solution:

Why not just upgrade the amplifier to the BOSE one? I have this in my CL and it's great. I am sure there also are other amplifier upgrade options that wouldn't involve mucking about with the fascia and losing the COMAND screen, which just seems daft to me.
