Hi guys; am new to the forum so thanks in anticipation for any feedback. I've bought a black 2008 C320 CDI SPORT which is very nice. The wheels are AMG 17" which are now my winter wheels. Will be looking to upgrade after christmas to 18" probably. Any suggestions? I am concerned that anyting other than genuine AMG are going to look cheap on this car. I do like the black and silver finish on the new cars, but only seeing copies on ebay in this style. Happy to consider other ideas :D

Plenty of good 18"s but I would also stick to ones that don't 'cheapen' the look. What's your budget?

At this point I'm thinking more about manufacturers, styles and sizes. I'd like to see more pictures to know what's possible and what works. I think it's unlikely I'd spend more than £700, but who knows where these things end

I hear you! You just can't have too much of a good thing......:D

You could consider wheels from other Mercedes tuners like Brabus, Kleemann or Carlsson, although you may need o be flexible on budget, especially if you need to buy tyres.

Got a set of AMG alloys from EBay by buying them individually. Takes a few weeks to look for the good ones but should be about £60 each with shipping. You just need to check the part numbers, they start A204. check the off set for ET 54 as the earlier C class wheels do not fit and remember the rears are wider. If you buy a duff one, just sell it on, the most you will loose is the £ 10 shipping. Don't cheapen the car with replica wheels.

Increasing wheel size from 17 to 18 will increase the road tax liability if DVLC is informed ...

I was unaware the DVLC have any interest in the wheel size of a car, let alone road tax liability being increased?
Is it Apr 1st already?

Took me 2 months and ended up with 5 as the last buy was for 2 wheels hardly used, might be cheaper after christmas when people have run out of silly money and prices get sensible again

Yes well spotted :thumb: I was on E30ZONE when I had my E30 318IS. And I'm still on M3CUTTERS because my own car is an E36 M3  The W204 is the family car

Big wheels = More tax

Makes £200 a year difference on my CLK 280 with 18 inch AMG wheels, unfortunately you can't go back as it was registered with them.

Not sure I'd deliberately make the change from 17 to 18 inches - more expensive tyres and on British roads full of potholes a bit more give might be nice.

Still each to his own.
