Urgent: Advice Needed Please!!!

It is a mandatory requirement to be insured in respect of your liability for losses suffered by third parties as a result of your negligence.
Therefore, an excess cannot be applied to this part of any claim.
Otherwise, the injured third party would be left high and dry if you refused to cough up the excess.

Thanks guys,

i called the insurance and the have confirmed nothing is charged to me and taht if no damage was caused to my car them i dont have to pay anything.#

i advised of what i suspect the guy is upto and the assured me that if this is the case they will throw the claim out.

so all in all i loose nothing, waiting for my mrs to come home and advise insurance then will let the guy know, and to contact them and not us for any further queries...

Thanks all for your advise and help

Raj

I believe I am wrong here - having had a quick look on't interweb..!

It suggests that you only pay the excess on claims you make for repairs to your own vehicle/property and not towards repairs to the 3rd party vehicle.property.

Not definitive but your insurance co will be able to set the record straight.
Credit for looking this up and correcting yourself. I was reading through the posts waiting for someone to point out it is an "Own damage excess" (and is usually referred to as such in the more detailed paperwork).
