Sorry for posting here guys but I need help urgently!

1998 W202 C230K with catastrophic electrical failure - I've had to pull over as I have no indicators, no central locking and no electric windows. I can't get the boot open but I do have headlights and the stereo still works.

Anyone have any ideas? I'm kinda stranded.

Thank you,

Scott.

Check fuses front and rear gain access to boot with blade key.

Why did you need to pull over? The car still drives without indicators and windows working?

It's not exactly safe to drive without indidcators. Not on the IOW anyway.

Outside bet here:

If your alternator is starting to fail then odd things stop working. On my 124 I lost the radio, windows, heater and indicators. Then it just cut out.

Try and get it home while it drives then check the voltage at the battery. You should have 13.9+ at 2.5rpm.

Good luck.

Hand signals, as per the Highway code? It's hardly a stranding condition.

BMW drivers manage without every day...

I expect a voltage issue or a CAN failure. Unplug the rear window motors and see if the fault goes.

If my windows worked I'd be all over that. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Good point, well made :o

That's done it! Thank you so much. Disconnected the rear passenger window motor and everything is back working. Owe you a beer dude!

That was fast! Less than 10min to remove the door card and disconnect the motor. You should get a job in a garage :thumb:
