Using a Comand-APS to play DVDs

Please note that the latest COMAND units for non North American vehicles seem to be coming throught without the video circuitry (and thus no green coax fakra connector on them) for cars that don't have TV/reversing camera as an option.

We've seen A/B class units without the circuitry - Maybe Alfie can comment if he has seen C/CLK ones without those circuits. I think ML/GL/R will always have it since they have TV tuner and reversing camera options.

Yep, definatley seeing A169 (w169/W245) units without video input. Yet to see W203 units without it but I suspect it wont be long. CLK/ML/GL/R should always have it as Richard says die to the option for a reversing camera.

Ok, so I have a COMAND unit in my (facelift) 54 plate C270 (thanks for that info Alfie! ) and it has the video button, but when I put a dvd in it yesterday it did nothing. Kept saying no video - any ideas why it would have a video button, but not play anything. Nothing is mentioned in the original manual for the car about it at all.

On the A / B / C / CLK / ML / GL / R the units can not play DVD video in the head unit (or MP3) dvd drive.

The video button is for if the vehicle has TV option (which is not available on all models, and is a seperate hidden device, and aerials in the windscreens etc).

Interestingly, there are current units with and without video for the CLK - so this means they are fitting units without video to cars without video and vice-versa
