V Power Petrol Prices

The questions are, though: (a) Is it actually better, or just different? And (b) if it's better, is it worth the higher price?
I've never seen one scrap of scientific evidence that V Power is any better in anyway than any other higher octane fuel. Both in either performance or engine cleanliness. Plenty that is much the same though.....so IMO its not worth the extra cash. Every time I see a car advertised as "only ever run on VPower " I think that hes gullible... there might be a deal to be had there!

I filled my car up yesterday with Shell V Power unleaded at £1.57.7/L as I have used Shell for years now out of habit but up to recently buying this car it has been their V Power diesel, but with reading this thread I may switch to Tesco Momentum as its about 7 pence a litre cheaper but is it like for like with Shell V Power ?20240329_143601.jpgScreenshot_20240329_143203_Chrome.jpg

That's not bad compared to the price of V power in the shell closest to me. It always seems to be £1.64 or higher all the time 🫣

I agree it's not that bad especially when prices were at there highest I was paying over £2.00 for a litre of V Power Diesel.

"only ever run on VPower "

That's true for all my cars. It might not help, but it won't do any harm either (to the car).... I *believe* Shell when they say it's a better fuel, but obviously I can't know for sure.

I've never used momentum 99, I've defaulted to Vpower or esso, but I may well give it ago when the beast rocks up.

I've heard so many people say "I was at Tesco the other day and the esso tanker was there."

Last time I read esso 99 was the only 0 ethanol petrol, but not sure if that applies still.

At my local prices, a tank of v power is about £10 more than momentum, so £50 a month extra for me.

Regarding the make up of fuels I don't really that much about that side of things only what they tell you. With using Shell diesel for year's before switching to petrol now,I never had any fuel/emission issues in over 30+ year's.

I've never noticed a discernible difference in mpg etc when I've played around.

My rule has always been, if I care about it, I put in super. If its old or got a turbo, I'll ONLY put in super.

I struggle to find a BP with super, my esso has 99, I have one localish Shell with v power and a tesco with momentum on the way to work.

Our local Tesco store is actually located at an Esso petrol station, so I guess that Tesco and Esso have some sort of partnership agreement:

Looks like it's esso fuel with a Tesco shop on the forecourt, near me there is a petrol station with an asda shop but sells Shell fuel.Screenshot_20240329_174117_Chrome.jpg

Most likely, then, Esso supplies the fuel to Tesco, and Shell supplies the fuel to Sainsbury's. This could explain the partnerships.

Yes must be something like that.

Knowingly bought the JCW with no real option other than visiting Tesco for their Momentum 99, which is what the little hooligan needs to slurp. 🥴
14 months in and nothing to report, other than it would seem to be plenty of performance on the cheap. 🥳🥳

157.9p is really cheap for VPower.

I ran my remapped E63 biturbo on Momentum 99 for 3 years, and it didn't miss a beat.
Save that £50 a month, change to Momentum, and it will pay for your road fund licence and more over the year.

I’ve ran 2 x M177’s and an M178 on Momentum 99 in the last 9 years and never had any issues.
All of mine and my wife’s cars have been ran on either petrol or diesel Tesco fuel for as long as I can remember.
