My discs are starting to go and i've been advised by my local mechanic they'll need changing in the next month or so. I've noticed on E-Bay I can pick up a set of vented discs and pads very cheap from Germany but mine are not vented (at least I don't think they are) so could I just change over to these?

Appologies if this is another of my dumb questions.

I wouldnt buy cheap disks/pads from ebay, they are not expensive from GSF or Euro car parts. It is also worth getting a price from a dealer (ask for a discount).

Do you mean front or rear discs?

Some of the early W202 smaller engined cars petrol+non turbo diesels had solid discs--- all the rest are vented. If you wanted to upgrade to vented discs you will probably need new front calipers as well. Might well be an easy swap depending on whether the same hub assemblies are used??? A careful look at the MB parts catalogue should tell you. I'm sure some W202 owners who may have done this already could tell you

I would recommend you either stick with the original disks or if you want to upgrade, go for a reputable high performance make.

Original disks for the w202 are not expensive from the dealer.

Thanks to all for the speedy reply.
