Very seriously thinking of buying a 2012 SLK 55amg

Very nice piece of eye candy, such an unusual colour! The heated seats you will love, when you put the cooled seats on in Summer you may think they are not working but they will be, just very subtle as they pass the ambient air through the seats. I have been using Airscarf with roof up found it quickly heats the interior whole waiting for the engine to warm up!

Unfortunately the SLK doesn't have the cooled seats function, I'm guessing this is only on the SL.

Thanks. The dealer has just given it it's scheduled A service for 7 years so I plan to take out a 3 year service contract which will cover B,A,B services, which will include plugs next year and transmission service in the third year. As it has come with 2 years T1 warranty from the dealers it should be reasonably cheap to run , depending upon needing tyres ( currently virtually new ) and discs . my right foot is likely to be the thing tharacks up the costs!

That looks stunning. A very well kept car. Enjoy!

I'm three years into ownership and the performance is still exciting. It sits low and is compact, so when you floor it, it's just exhilarating.

Just been out, hood down and in Sport mode, home an hour and still smiling

Amazing, my wife having the car registered in her name asked the dealer ,when we were collecting the car , had the service and mot been done? Was assured it had.
just got a phone call from the dealer asking how the drive home ( 170 miles ) had gone. Said very good, then they proceeded to tell me the service had not been carried out! ( no mention of the mot ) Could they send a driver to collect the car, they would service it and return it full of petrol. No way I replied, am not having extra 375 miles racked up on my 19000 mileage car and having it driven by any delivery driver !
Said I will have it serviced at my local MB dealer 40 miles away. Got the spiel about not in our group, told them that was their problem, go away and sort it out. Then checked MOT history, no been done, expires May 19, rang them back and the confirmed that needed to be done as well as the service. Awaiting a phone call. Am feel I am not being difficult, what do you all think?

No you're not being difficult, although I've found it best to email/message all comms to dealers so they then have no wriggle room.

Excellent idea. Everyone should own a V8 Mercedes at least once in their lives before they become extinct.
The German car makers are going for it at the moment with big V8s, they know the lecky crap will take over GO for, it buy a v8 and give the Greens the finger

Thanks, have just emailed the dealer confirming the conversation , both offer and our response

Would you believe it , just got the V5 from Swansea, keeper shown as me despite asking and putting in writing it should be in my wife's name for insurance reasons! Just had to post it back to dealer so they can advise DVLA to amend the keepers details. Luckily they have assured me it will not show as another owner!
Pity about this morning as the dealer had been very good up until now, or so we thought

Got an email this evening from the dealer confirming they will now arrange for the car to be given an A service and MOT at my nearest MB dealer at my convenience ( not urgent as they are due in May according to the records ) Actually this will suit me as I was already planning to organise a 3 year MB service contract
locally.

Sounds like after a bit of stress you've got a result there Chris. :)

Could have done without it, still have to wait to get confirmation of the change of keeper on the V5 , prefer not to have to contact the insurance company, already had the documents for the three cars changed twice as they screwed up keepers and allocating no claims bonus onto the SLK. Will have to drives the A210 for the next 2/3 days!

Sorry to hear that the dealer has seemingly been doing their utmost to take the shine off your new toy :(

It really does beggar belief that they can get wrong the one job they're paid to do: sell cars

On a positive note, the SLK55 is such an enjoyable car to own and drive that the current kerfuffle will soon be forgotten :thumb:

You are quite right on both counts. Enjoyed my self washing it yesterday,

That's when you find out how good the paintwork really is :)

Only found the 3 small chips on the rear spoiler lip that the dealer had pointed out when we were buying it. Had been retouched as promised and are hardly noticeable. Otherwise unmarked bodywork , brilliant for 7 years but reflects the very low mileage I suppose . Will now have to think about buying some wax for it.

Overall, I think your dealer has been fair and true to their word so I'm quite impressed. Yes I understand they made mistakes but they've been very cooperative to rectify them without causing you too much friction (which is a rare thing these days).

Anyway, the suns out, enjoy the car

Oops!

Sorted out insurance while V5 being amended , as you say sun shining so put roof down and went for a blast in Sport mode. Still not had enough road or bottle to get it over 4500 revs!
