Viano double sunroof

Apologies for the thread hijack but seems I've got the same issue with mine (2007) drenching the the inside!

I've had a good luck but can't actually see where it's coming through. A few questions....

Where are the drain holes? I've poured water over but doesn't appear to be draining anywhere.

Is the rear of the sunroof supposed to be flush with the fixed glass? The dash isn't saying it's open.

What are the plastic parts which clip in either side?

Any help would be appreciated as it's staining the roof lining

Great pictures, the drains go down each rear quarter and come out below the bumper corners, they should run all the time as the gutter is open.
I would remove the rubber seal clean up the messy silicon and fit a new rubber.
Take down the cross trim and you will see each drain, pull it off and clear it until water flows out.

I had the same issue. I'm in the midst of sorting mine. Part no 16 is the seal that runs all the way around the sunroof and fixed panel, £84 from the dealer, (I couldn't find one anywhere else.)

My drains were blocked right to the top with debris.

I have taken the headlining down and disconnected the pipes and blew down them to clear the pipes. Then I took a torx key and rummaged in the end where the pipe connects until it was clear. then just a case of connecting and flushing with water and repeating until the water flows.

I'm away to lift the unit out today and seal under the tray.

I'll post some pics so you can see where they are.

Where the two panels meet when closed is where the drain holes are. One on each side.

Hope this helps.

I just got this seal today for the sunroof.

Not sure if it's the seal I'm looking for, and what is the tube of silicon for?

The seal I'm after goes all the way around the sunroof tray and fixed panel, outside, on the outer edge of the assembly. Parts guy at the dealership said this was the one I was after and I only need one. Doesn't look long enough though.

Any help would be great.

Also after taking the sunroof out and cleaning all the silicon away, re seating the unit and cleaning the drain tubes, I didn't have to put a new bond around the frame as the original seal was still in great nick. What purpose does the seal around the channel serve, I've had it through a car wash and some heavy rain and it hasn't leak without the seal.

I still haven't tackled mine but with winter on its way I'm getting fed up with the car seat filling with water every time it rains!

Does anyone have a photo of the drain pipes? I still can't find them......

Sorry, didn't realise there had been updates in thread! Will take the cross bar down this weekend. I presume this is the one inside with the switch?

Just as an update I got my sunroof leak free! Quite an easy job in the end and no need to replace the rubber.

Whichever idiot had siliconed the roof had filled the drains holes/sink! :wallbash:
Disconnected the drain pipes and attached some hose pipe to a bucket then spent a couple of hours getting all the crap out. Cleaned the glass roof and seal then used silicone spray on the seal to make it more supple. Now no leaks despite all the rain we've had :D

The hardest part was getting the plastic runners in the right place whilst screwing the glass. I don't know why so many of these roofs get silconed up, I would say it was easier taking it apart and fixing the issue.

Well done, and congratulations. I am at MB Weybridge right now with same problem - they say they need to drop the whole headlining out to then remove whole sunroof section, then look at what is happening. Their theory is that there is something obstructing / preventing the actual sunroof to close fully, as it doesn't sit fully flush with the fixed rear glass panel (probably 3-5mm higher). Should it be flush would you think, is yours flush?

It does sit higher yes.

Got sunroof leaking issues. I clean the drains maybe every 18mths but just keep coming back. So off to clean again.

I haven't replaced my seal yet as the above post- but what does that seal do??

Thanks
