Sometimes when I brake I get a virbation through the brake pedal accompanied by a buzzing sound. This lasts for a few seconds and then stops. It sometimes carries on for a short time after I've released the pedal. Any ideas??

SBC unit recharging.

I'd get that checked as it sounds like the SBC system is losing residual pressure.

It may need a software update. Your dealer can tell you.

What do you mean by "Buzzing". From a warning message on the dash or a vibration sound from the car?

vibration sound from the car. It is intermittent and can carry on for a few seconds after the brakes have been applied. No warning sounds or lights from the dash.

Assuming your car is fitted with SBC braking system sounds very much like normal operation of an SBC pump to me.

It is a sort of "Bggggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr" sound and in general you only tend to notice it when car is stationary or at low speed.

There were a number of recalls on the SBC system and IIRC if they are all done you should have an additional aluminium bracket attaching the cable connector to unit, a blob of white paint on the pump body and a red "do not remove....." label on the wiring.

If in doubt ask dealer to check if all SBC recalls (if required because it depends on age of car and the serial number of SBC pump) have been done.
