Mercedes 250d
Hey, all, I have a Mercedes 250d and it comes with 2 USB slots and a memory card slot. Is it possible to play films on the sat nav/options screen? When I plugged in my USB stick and went to the folder the films I had were shown (in mp4) but only the sound would play, can you not play films/movies through the USB to screen? (not had time to go through the online manual)

Do you have COMAND infotainment system, or Audio 20 / Audio 50?

Also, please note that you need to test it while the car is stationary, because video screen switches-off automatically when the car is moving (at 5mph from memory), and only the audio/soundtrack will be heard.

Does it need to be in park with the handbrake on as well in order to display the video?

Just to check, were you driving at the time you tried to play the video files?

I ask because video in motion is prohibited in UK law and is therefore not supported by MB in this country.

Audio 20 and no I was parked on the drive (handbrake on) engine off.

Don't believe Audio 20 has the video option. Mine certainly hasn't.

Neither does mine... :(

No video/films on Audio 20, only with COMAND. To be honest the screen resolution on the Audio 20 system would not be good enough anyway.

I opted for COMAND on ours for a range of reasons, being able to play a DVD or MP4 wasn't really on the radar tbh.

usually, if something has a USB port it can play pretty much anything. I thought it might be a codec problem. ah well i will look into it, maybe there's a workaround out there.

No work around that I have found. Audio 20 does not take any of the add on control boxes that all this or external HDMI devices to work.

This feature is only really useful if you have the rear video screens option.

(Said that, I have seen around the West End the odd chauffeur sitting in his black S-Class with the engine running and watching DVD while presumably waiting for his boss.)

Makes sense. There are bound to be odd occasions when it might be useful I suppose. Just need to remember to keep some media to hand :)
