Hi guys, can anyone suggest a solution to the following problem:-

Work PC is running Vista Ultimate, I transferred all files and settigs etc from it onto a number of DVDs to copy on to a laptop at home. However, laptop at home is on Win XP (SP2) and I cannot access the files on the DVDs.

I understand the data on the DVDs is stored in MIG files??? but having searched high and low for a solution I can find no way of transferring my documents etc from the DVDs to my laptop.

Is there a specific program that I can get hold of that will enable me to copy the data from the DVds to the laptop?

Thanks.

in vista, migration of your docs and settings works one way.

ie: migrating from xp to vista and not the other way around,

you could simply try burning the contents of your c:\users\you dir to DVD and copy that onto your XP computer

or upgrade the xp box to vista.

cheers

Thanks for the reply. May well have to be a case of upgrading to VISTA on the laptop. I know from further digging around some programs like ISObuster can access the files but its not for definite.

Thanks again for the reply.

You may be able to open the MIG files using Microsoft's USMT .The problem with "downgrading" the operating system when importing settings is the registry hierachy between Vista and XP differs. I'm not sure IsoBuster will help you with this :(
