Vito THERMOTRONIC luxury climate control.

Hi, Nick

Yes MB parts, harness £70, stepper motor £40, module £60. sun sensor £30.

So not been cheap.

The part number was fine until you order it, it was not avalable, but now is.
It's just a heater harness so I might just use the top part and keep the dash in.

Job done, all working as it should, 3 hours work.
Did not need the dash out just the radio, top dash and cubby box, and gear surround.
Harness comes out but is tight you need to pop some flap rods to get it out.
The resistor pack comes out, but again is tight.
New one fits the same place but is alloy and it uses the fan blower to cool it, nice idea.
The extra stepper motor just clips into place, no need to change the blower case, it's the same.

The only plug you cannot get to is the front top, this had to be cut off and soldered, the wires are the same colour.

Thats it, it works no problems and looks so much better.
I have all the part numbers.
£255 at MB parts
200 euros on ebay for the control and dash, this did take hours of work to strip and get like it is now.

Thats quality mate, sounds like you had a tough but rewarding job.. & at a reasonable price but a lot of man hours..

This is what came out

Bit of a back step now it's gone cooler, No heat form the heater!, it cools ok and sits at 21 deg no problem but if you want heat, the fan blows cool air.

Must need the HH9 removing and HH4 coding?

Ok small bit of progress today, Van went into MB yesterday, Hopeless, they normalised the flaps and went for a drive, came back and said, god this van flys!
So I asked what was the problem and you get the blank face, no idea look.
Back to work shop, the main man, cannot be done mate! lol.

Anyway, no charge, I was no going to pay anyway but I have just come back from Marks place, Mercedes replacement keys in Birmingham, Nice guy, he went through it with Star, same fault found even after clearing, Water valve in the engine bay controls the heater flow at fault, everything within the heater working as it should, all steppers etc.
Question is why could MB not find this?

I will order a new valve and come back, you can just see it so a job to do one thinks!
Just glad I don't need the hopeless guys at the dealers to do it!

As you know from my other post ref heater valve, you cannot get to this easy, you can just get your hand to it.
I now have the new valve, £70 inc vat, they had 3 so thats never good to here.
Dealers have done one, they remove the black box! so I assume ecu out and the sam and then the box slides over all the wires to come out, what a job.
Before I commit to that would Star have found a fault with the controller if there was one?
Because it was cleared 3 time and same fault came back, heater valve.
Wires to this do come straight from the controller but in block B with the canbus and all this is untouched with the new harness.
I cannot get the plug off the valve to test that end.

As my other post, new valve fitted and not fixed the problem so the control is now out and boxed ready to send to BBA Reman for service.
That valve remains closed.

Job done all working as it should.
I also have avalable the lot second hand to retro fit, PM me for details.

Just reading back on this
Missing from above, Dash £50 and controller £350 Carbon pollen filter £25
So your looking at £625 plus 3-4 hours work and then coding to get it to work.

Having it after a few weeks you can see the benefits, just leave it on Auto and thats it, it fully controls the van temperature, moving air from screen to feet inc fan speed, well worth it.

Hi Ian . Thanks for the update, Any progress with the kit of parts and the how to instructions ?? Still want to fit this . Is the controller the bit you got off Ebay for a song ??

Nick

Hi, Nick

I have another controller still at BBA remans due back soon, thats the you you can have.
I can do some parts used but most will be new like the dash, harness and module will need to be new, the controller is second hand, but mint, when I get it back!
Soon as it arrives you can have first offer.

When I did my 203 it was a straight swap. You don't get anything extra, just a better (IMHO) looking display. The flaps need syncing and that's best done using STAR

OT but when did you get rid of the C270?? I thought you still had it??
