Going off the manual 75 litres is the capacity of the fuel tank including 8 reserve .On a few occasions in the last month l have topped 76 .4 litres and another occasion 77.8 litres Now unless lm been stooged at the local servo, both have been separate filling stations or do petrol capacities very . On other occasions l have filled 74 l and looking at the fuel gauge it reads a 2mm from empty. Unless lm running on vapours could my tank be a lot larger than specified.

According to my specs its 75 with 9 litre reserve, based on 25 mpg that would be almost 50 miles with the fuel warning on. I don't push it that far, but it's rare to get much more than 70 litres in. Some M-B's did have the option of a larger tanks but not the 639 AFAIK.

You can't be filling up from a pump calibrated in US gallons as they're a fair bit smaller (78 gal US is 65 gal UK).

Strange one!

l have confronted both fuel stations that are both major companies and have the latest equipment and they assure me that there equipment is calibrated on a regular log book basis. Has me stumped . unless lm squeezing more diesel in making its way through the lines and filter. Doubt it.
