Volcanic Ash, an E350 CDI and Milan!

It may be a two week drive but I'd enjoy it. :D
I'm thinking a tour round France and Germany one day. :thumb:

Yep, I am going around Europe this summer in my 211. France, Germany, Italy, Spain (maybe) Italy, Switzerland, Poland, Czech republic (maybe), Hungary (if time) further east (if time).

I'm sure the E would serve you well. :thumb:

Oh don't worry it will. Room for two instant inflating tents, luggage, food and comfort, perfect!!!

I would never do that, simply becuase I don't want to put milage on my car, lol.

I did 5k in my CDi in 1 year and 3months, now thats low specially as it's a CDi.

Sounds great, a family friend noted that the further east you go the poorer the roads become.
Your 16's should help a bit.

Practicality, luxury, and refinement what more could you want? :D
Is this before or after my meet on the other place?

Crikey, that's really low mate. I do that in about 3 months. With the Euro trip that's 3 services this year. Going to be exbenzive....

I know its a cliche but these cars get better and better with age. They honestly can do big miles.

Aye the 16's mean cheaper tyres too as well, which is good because will need another set this year as well. I think we are off just after your GTG IIRC.

The current GF is from Poland, and she said the same that some of the roads are very bad and rutted, when I was whinging about the surfaces here.

Yeah! And in Russia even worse! You develop an almost 6th sense when driving in the extreme rutted Russian roads that enables you to steer around them, even at relatively quick speeds! This learnt skill has served me well in the UK too this year! :D

Matt - the BIG question is will it clear up by the time we need to fly Stuttgart next Sunday?

I'm booked on the 8.50am flight on the Sunday 25th...are you?

Sounds like a nice drive for the guys that came out to get you. Presumably average 67mph/33mpg mean soembody was wellying it.

Enjoys Paris - the whole story would have been a good apart from you cat. Very sorry to hear that.

Apart the fact that my wife's polish, I also work alot with and in Poland and I can confirm that some of the roads are really bad! Some are alot better then in the UK too.

If you do drive to Poland, avoid one of the most dangerous roads there.... the Berlin-Poznan-Warsaw route. Nothing but trucks all heading east for Russia etc. The southern one, down to Wroclaw and Krakow is much nicer and it's a M-way nowadays, apart one small bit.

By all accounts, you were lucky to get across the channel twice at short notice!
