Give them a call. I think arm rest and front head rest covers are included in the front seat kit. They are in CA so 9 hours behind you.

Thanks Alabbasi. I'l give them a call a bit later on then.

Has anyone had any experience with GAT (German Auto Tops). They've got leather kits that are reasonably priced. Vinyl ones also look good, are they using MB-Tex for these kits?

Not personally but know plenty who have and do not have any complaints. I think they also advertise on ebay as tops and seats.

GAT never replied to any of the three emails I sent them. Remember you will need to add Vat and import duty to any US supplier prices (inc shipping) to get a UK price. That's why I got my seats done at KHM as they were cheaper all in.

Thanks Charles, I'm still waiting for a response from KHM. Might try giving them a call if they don't respond today. Do you know anyone personally there that I can ask for?

Alas, on the road today so haven't any KHM details - just give them a bell, they speak English (mostly).

Thanks guys. Option number 3 has just prevailed to me.

My rear seats aren't in such bad condition. And I've came across some 'Recaro Classic C' seat. They're currently in cloth material. However I'd reupholster them to something like this:

I know I'm stepping away from originality a little bit and I'd need to get adaptors, but this may prove to be cheaper than getting the whole lot done.

Let me know your thoughts

Thanks

My thoughts:

It's your car so have it as you like. Try to keep in mind the finished product as a whole car. Also how changeable things are should you change your mind at a later date.

The purists will always say to Keep everything original. The fact is that many cars were changed in their lifetime anyway and sometimes that change is an improvement. You just can't get shot for staying with the original.

Thanks for the encouragement Bruce. My inner child is telling me to use the money I save on hydraulic suspension lol

Recaros are period, although I think the C classics are just a bit later than your car. They will have value independent of the car, so if you later remove them it wouldn't be a great issue.

(I have a set of C Classics and CSEs but my W114 I wanted to keep stock and they would be wrong in an early 70s car).

Should have mentioned Charles, I would have dropped you an offer! Was just wondering with the operation of switches for seat movement/heating etc, would you split wire from battery into female connector corresponding to recaro male connector? Or do I need a special wire loom?

I've just bought them, will need to wait for them to be shipped from Germany now. These sub-frames should work too:

Recaro Seats - Mercedes Benz 200-280 (W 123) Direct Fit Sub-frames - GSM Sport Seats

Well that's pretty much my budget blown. I'm going fix them into the car and then save up to have front recaros and rear seats colour matched in palimino leather. Just seen a thread of a restoration some guy did on his W123 wagon. The seats look **** hot in his W123 wagon. (about 3/4 of the page down)

Just thought I'd show you fellas the seats I've bought. They're in very good condition in all fairness. I'm gonna feel bad when they're ripped apart to reupholster.. :/

One look at Ed's seats and you've gone all weak at the knees boy! :):)

You didn't get those off Charles by any chance...?

Put the original velour on those = Mmmmmmm!

Had I guessed I would have mentioned them earlier - sorry to say I haven't applied myself to understand the wiring but I doubt it's that complex as it's all self contained.

Nice looking pair!
