w123/w126 grille star removal

OK, so I have this W126 but what a friend referred to as the "gunsight" (the star from the top of the grille) is broken. I have a sound one on the W123 which is going to be scrapped, but I'm damned if I see how to remove it.

Searching on google only seems to find how to remove the newer type ones, which aren't the same as these. The W123 and W126 ones look the same.

If its anything like the 116 you either push the locking plate to one side, which retains the whole assembly in the radiator shell, and then lift it out complete or if you just want to remove the the "star" turn the draw hook, you can see the eye underneath which is attached to the "star", turn it 90' to release the spring and with draw the "star".

On the W126 you get a pair of grips and pull down hard against the spring, then twist. The assembly can then be withdrawn upwards out of the grille slot.
